Ice maker

Does anyone use a portable ice maker while camping? I believe this unit is made by Emerson. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0017Y3GGI/..._am_us?ie=UTF8

My in laws have one exactly like that. So does another friend. Both love it. I'm considering buying one too.

We have one, got it at Kohls 2 years ago. Works great with full hook ups, and we got it for 155 bucks with the sale, and 20% off coupons. The down fall is, it takes 1.5 hours to start making "real ice cubes" They come out premature untill the water is very cold, so we leave the basket out, and let the first cubes fall into the water to chill it down before put the basket back in to catch them. After that it works great. Never need to purchase any. Between home and the RV. Im sure it has paid for itself. Using refridgerator water helps speed up the process.

Icemaker

We have one down here in South Carolina and love it. We also use cold water to start and empty the ice into a small cooler that we keep just inside the door of camper to help keep it melting as quickly.

we have the smallest one we could find, used it for several years now. We normally have a cooler for all the drinks and water and the icemaker keeps it filled. I figure we have more than paid for the icemaker in ice savings and not having to make ice runs.

I have the same model but in grey. I have had it for 4 years and have kicked it around pretty good and it just keeps making ice. I usually get the trailer leveled and then the table comes out and the ice makers sits on the table next to the entry door. By the time I am finished setting the rest of trailer up and extend the awning and place the chairs I have ice for my Rum and Coke.
