Weather guessers are calling for 2-4 inches of snow here tonight. I tend to agree, de-winterize and head out, but owuld be travelling through the snow to get somewhere else. Guess we are gonna ride it out!

Thumbs up Weather

I've been receiving photos on facebook and e-mails of frozen water features, icy and snowy roads, ice cicles hanging on trees and people all bundled up like snow men, so I thought I would do my part. I got a bucket of water, walked out on my deck and threw it in the air expecting it to freeze. Darn luck, all it did was turn to steam, go figure, life is tuff here in the the South.
Sorry, I couldn't help myself standing here in shorts and hitting golf balls into the woods behind the house.

We had (key word_ HAD) about 24" on the ground just last week, but late last week, we had 3 days of rain and 40-50F weather and it pretty much all is gone. Now, just bitter single digit cold and no snow to speak of. Snowmobile trails are covered in SNIRT, with no outlook for anything fresh. All the lakes had pretty much thawed, ice fishermen were falling through the ice, and now, it's 6-10" thick again, but I'm still not trusting it on the big lakes. The small lake behind our house is about 8" thick. Our dock is as solid as it's ever been, and a good place to park a sled full of fishing equipment (rather than a boat).

We're in our second winter of virtually no snow, so if you want, send that moisture back up north, we could use it in the midwest.......

Talking Trees

Hey Barney, they do bounce off the trees but that just makes it easier for my dog Riley to fetch them. Sorry about the work thing. Funny, today is my 66th birthday and I'm looking for part time work to keep me from going nuts. I've always worked two or three jobs and you can only retire so much. With the President and Congress fighting, the stock market tanking along with housing and now My Boeing stock sitting on the ground retirement is starting to look a little different. Good luck with your work and have a great day.

Weather updated just in the last few minutes on my phone.
was 2-4 inches falling maybe some 1-2" sticking. now its 3-6 inches sticking with below freezing temps in the morning causing hazard driving conditions. So with me being the boss I am expected to be at work, So I will get up real early and see what it looks like and then drive slowly into work so that my employees can take a snow/ice day off work .(Sarcastic humor there).
enjoy those in the warmer areas and those camping & enjoying it.

Same boat here, except I had surgery yesterday and am not " suppose" to be driving. It's hard to always follow the doctors advice when others are counting on you. I really hope this is a non event.

In my last post I said the forcast was 2-4" of snow. Well, you know how the weather guessers are, they missed again. Just got a small dusting with nothing sticking on the roads, just 1/4" of ice on my windshield this morning. "Who'd a thunked" they would be wrong?

Right now it's 7F and snowing off and on. Winds last night up to 50 MPH gusts and 11" of fresh snow on the ground since Friday evening. Snow predicted every day this week and it's supposed to "warm up" to 20 by Friday. Looks like winter finally arrived <sigh> Hurry up spring? Nah, going snowmobiling this afternoon, then cross country skiing either tomorrow or Wednesday, depending on the winds. It's clear, sunny (whhen the snow isn't falling) and crisp LOL

You keep the snow, I'll take the temperatures though. I can move heavy equipment over frozen ground.

On the 630 news, current temperature was -5F with a predicted low tonight of -13 and a high tomorrow of -6. Wind chill will put it in the -20's all night and all day tomorrow. I'm not sure if I'd want to be moving heavy equipment in that, but you're right, it won't be sinking into the ground, that's for sure. I "popped" one of the inlets on the oil cooler on my tractor this morning, so I had to "weather the storm" and go to town to have a bypass hose built. Tractor is on the trailer and I'm dragging it to the dealer tomorrow morning. Hope to have it back by Friday or Saturday, but any snow that needs to be moved until it's back will be done by the 4 wheeler and that little plow. Oh well, I sit on a snowmobile all day, I suppose I can sit on a 4 wheeler for an hour or so. The only problem is that the driveway is about 1/4 mile long and I need to keep it clear so the DW can stand on the porch and see the road down below

Back in southwest Michigan low of 5 tonight -15 or so with the windchill. Cozy in the Alpine furnace is on for 10 off for 20. No problems over 100 gallons of propane hooked up
