I live in Heber City, UT. It is about 1500 ft higher in elevation than Layton and generally about 10F colder. We are having a heatwave today -- up to 36 and fresh new snow. I winterize my RV and stay in the house -- no camping until April or May. The best solution for Steve is to drive to St George, UT, or further south in NV or AZ.

If thawing is the only issue, you will be lucky. Once thawed, check everything for leaks. The Pex piping wont crak but the pex or brass fittings will.

If you intend to be camping this way in future years, you may want to look into having a shop install electric tank heaters [LINK] under your tanks. Saves much propane; and even if you do forget to turn them on, corrective action is so much easier (just turn them on!)

OK... tanks get thawed using tank heaters. Someone tell this fella how to keep his sewer pipe from freezing...

btw... was whining a couple days ago about 30F and freezing rain; today was 75F and great riding with the missus on our trike. Ate Italian over in Hondo then did about 150 miles. Chamber of Commerce day in our corner of the world.

Here are some ideas.[LINK]
Here's more. [LINK] But beware -- the H&G gets a lot of bad reviews, both for construction and for not being wide enough for "the good stuff."

Howdy All;

After I had my freeze up in Ut. and the RV was in the shop I took a few walks around the park to see if there was a better site. The one I had been on had my utilities on the North side of the site. drain hose stayed in shadow all day. Not good. Talked with management and had a site available with the utilities facing South so the drain could benefit from the Sun's warming rays. Then I went and bought some of that 3" Black PVC (?), and the connections To reach the hole-in-the-ground. I already had taken care of the water-in hose with heat tape and pool noodles. As management had used 24" water line pipe to cover the water source and filled that with fiberglass insulation as my heat tape also ran into that we cut the amount of insulation in half so the heat from the tape could do it's "magic".

Roger, the boys in the Keystone marketing department probably said hahaha thinking someone would believe the "winter package or arctic package" actually would allow camping in the dead of winter in a place like NY without a lot of additional steps taken.

Howdy once again;

There is a "sticky" down on the Modifications forum from a fella named geo,
truly an epic on how to properly winter proof an RV.
Here's a link;

Here is the solution and preventative. Not cheap but cheaper than replacing pipes, tanks etc. Actually designed to be used in boat engine compartments.
