Cougar, recliner problem

Is there any way to fix the vinyl upholstery that is damaged on the recliners. The damage came very suddenly, and I don’t know why.

Is the damage like a tear or split, or is it more of a flaking off of a large spot?

It’s like a flaking problem, we were using it for 3 days, I was sitting in the problem recliner, maybe a total of 6 hrs. It was in good condition up until this. 2019 cougar

The fastest way for a temporary fix is to purchase slip covers. The long term expensive solution is to get them reupholstered. And the ultimate solution is to replace them with something new.

YouTube has many, many videos on how to repair leather and vinyl upholstery. Depending on the nature of your damage, I'm sure you'll find one of the videos that will match your situation: Click here.

I believe your Cougar is a 2022 model ??? If it is still under the initial 1 year warranty, your dealership may be able to file a warranty claim and get you two replacement recliner. I say "two" replacements because if one recliner has "pleather problems" the other likely will follow soon AND the replacement, if you get only one, may not match close enough to the original in color, thread pattern and style..... So, replacing both will get your problem fixed while still in warranty.

Otherwise, there is a type of "upholstery tape" that comes in sheets or rolls (like the old contact paper) that you can use to cover the problem area, depending on where the issue is on the chair. If that wouldn't work, then slip covers or possibly a local upholsterer can match the vinyl and repair the panels that have the flaking problem.

If you're still within the one year warranty, that's your "best bet"...

If it flaking patching is a waste of time. Slip cover or replace.
