High Temp Warning on TST 507 TPMS

While on a short trip to Jackson, CA last week I had one tire monitor beep for a high temp on one tire. I stopped and checked all four tires, and all felt normal for the 95-degree outside temperature. The monitor flashed 330 degrees. Tires are new Goodyear Endurance with less than 4000 miles on them and the pressures were all between 80 and 85 PSI. Anyone got any ideas?

Get an infrared temperature gun and eliminate the guesswork with touch. I've never had my TST do that so I am assuming you had/have a problem of some kind. When was the last time you checked your brakes/bearing/grease?

Picked up the trailer 12/30/21, new tires put on 2/15/22. All 4 wheels, brakes and bearings were inspected when the tires were replaced. If there was a problem, it lasted all of 5-10 seconds because when I pulled back on the highway all 4 tires were about 94-97 degrees. Glitch? Bad sensor? or simply who the hell knows?

i’d say glitch..i dont think the tires could cool down that fast ..maybe change the batteries in the sensors…now if a battery in a sensor overheats would that in itself cause the temp to spike on the screen?

I would give TST a call or email them. I've found their customer service to be very good.

Gonna try that in the morning. CS was supposed to be open until 8pm Eastern but no answer at 7pm Eastern. Just an FYI, the TPMS was also purchased new for the new trailer.

That sounds like some sort of glitch. If it happened more than once on the same tire I would start thinking sensor but until then I'd just watch it....and call TST tomorrow, they've really been good to me.

If you're traveling tomorrow before CS calls you just swap out that sensor with a different one. If it happens again and it follows the sensor then it's obviously the sensor. If it happens again and it follows the wheel then stop and check the wheel. My guess it's just a funky sensor as I don't think the tire could survive that temp without failing.

Just a thought, we had a sensor read Hi Temp. Turned out we had a trailer brake active on one wheel. Reset the brake controller and problem solved.

Thank you all who responded. According to TST - CS it's interference on the 433 MHz band. They suggested that I install the signal booster that came with the TPMS since the issue was on the furthest most tire from the receiver.

If it came with the signal booster and you didn't install it my experience has been that it does in fact act a bit wonky. I assume you have the color monitor and from what I was told it does not have the sensitivity of the older monitors so interference sounds logical. If I forget to turn my booster on my back right tire just doesn't ever read out.

If I don't turn on the booster (TST 507 with color monitor) It will loose contact with my bumper mounted spare. It's never given me an erroneous reading though.

We have the same TST 507 system, and have had the display show over 500 degrees occasionally, and it definitely was not that high. Met up with the TST people at a rally a few years ago, and bought the new color display as it was supposed to have a better circuitry to stop the interference.

We need to remember that there are an ever increasing number of items using RF out there so an occasional bit of interferance can be expected. Early on (2008) I was testing a new TPMS from Hella but kept getting strange readings. Eventually confirmed that my Wireless Back-up camera was the cause of the bad readings.
