Hello, We’re picking up our new Cougar 25RDS on Monday and we will tow it with our Suburban. Right now I’m reading about what I’ll need to bring it home.
I’m looking forward to learning from all of you!
Christine

Congrats on your new Cougar! You will need a weight distribution hitch system for one thing. Again, congrats!

A good WDH with sway control & good quality brake controller are mandatory! Don't cheap out on either.
You may also want to check the yellow/white tag, it states "occupants & cargo must not exceed XXXXlbs", on the drivers door of the Suburban for the payload weight. The rv you've chosen has a GVWR or 8800lbs which will be a minimum tongue weight of 880lbs up to 1300+lbs, probably closer to the 1300, (typically 10-15% of the rv GVWR), subtract this from that payload number will let you know how much weight of people, pets & all other stuff is still available to haul in the Suburban. If it's a fully optioned Suburban the payload is likely to be around 1500lbs. I'm assuming if you have Suburban you're most likely hauling a family in it with all their stuff, all of which comes directly off that payload along with the tongue weight.
Typically Suburbans & any other SUVs make very good people movers, but not adequate tow vehicles regardless of what either the rv or Suburban dealer may have told your or what you may have read in brochures of either.
Not trying to spoil your dream, just wanting to keep you & all safe to enjoy the rv experience.
Good luck & be safe!

Hi Christine.
Welcome.
The link below will take you to a PDI check list. This is VERY IMPORTANT to do when you pick up your new 25RDS.
It will take time but do not let the dealer put you off. Go through the check list and verify all is well. I know it is a new 25RDS but trailers are not at all like cars and the quality control is almost exclusively up to you. It is even worse now since COVID.
http://www.angelfire.com/trek/buenav...PDI_V113_2.pdf

Next, go into your user CP (a link on the upper left of the page) and set your signature.
When you have questions folks who can help will immediately see what year and type your trailer is and what year and type your tow vehicle is.
I tow a very similar TT to yours (26 RBPR) with a 3/4 ton suburban.

Go over the Pre-Delivery Inspection (aka PDI) and have it with you. You cannot believe the grief you can save yourself with it. Be prepared to spend the day. Congratulations Looks like a super nice rig.

And sign nothing til all is as you expect it to be!
Once you sign off they're in no hurry to work on YOUR rv, by not signing they still own it & the sale is dependent on you so they're a bit more concerned.
