A/C leaking water inside

Ok so lately I am noticing water dripping inside from one of the 4 long a/c bolt locations. I took off the inside white face plate that holds the blast gates and there was at least 1/2 cup of water in there! I took off the plate and looked up into the a/c and there is no sign of a leak from the roof or condensation coming down. I am at a loss as to where the water is coming from. Any ideas?

I have heard about an issue with the drain holes on some units. If I recall correctly, they are some in the wrong place. You need to seal up a couple and drill a couple new ones. Maybe somebody with a better memory will remember more details.

It appears to be leaking from one of the high side bolt locations or the gasket between the a/c and roof. I do not want to torque tighten the bolts so tight that I crush the gasket though. Do I just trial and error it until the leak stops?

If you haven't tightened those 4 "mounting bolts", you might try that to see if it resolves the "leak".

There is a history of some people finding the drain hole in the drip pan blocked by dirt or decomposed leaves. You can remove the top cover, look at the drip pan and check to see if the drain is plugged. If it is, that may be your problem.

Before doing that, I'd check the mounting bolts to be sure they are tight (but not too tight). I believe your trailer is a 2016 ?? If so, the gasket might have been compressed too much by tightening the 4 mounting bolts too tightly. If so, the gasket might no longer be sealing properly and might need to be replaced. That means removing the A/C top unit cleaning the gasket area and installing a new gasket. It's not a particularly difficult job, but takes 2 people to lift the top unit out of the hole, turn it "on its side" to access the gasket surface on the unit and then to reposition it in the hole after the new gasket is set in place.

I'd leave the "gasket replacement" as a final option if tightening the bolts doesn't work. Don't overtighten them, but keep them snug. The gasket does have a habit of "compressing and leaking" over time. That hopefully, is your problem.
