2020 Alpine 3400RS TV Trouble

Took delivery days ago. In barn lot now with no hookups. Batteries fully charged. TVs will not turn on with remote or switch. Key TV panel shows blue light. Cable plugged into antenna port. Assuming I’ve missed a step. Any ideas?

Ps. Looks like an antenna on the roof. Is it? No mention of that at dealer orientation, which was overwhelming and not very good. More “not sures” then I expected. Info in manuals and online is surprisingly limited. Believe a guy should read and try to figure things out. They don’t make that easy. Here’s to forums!

No hookups? As in no AC (power)? That means no AC (air conditioning), microwave etc. You have 2 power systems; 12vdc, 120vac. You have to have full hookups (power) to run AC items, a generator or solar array with storage batteries and an inverter....

Correct. Adding 50 amp to the barn soon. So it is not plugged into electric yet. Lights, slides, etc. are running off batteries. Thought the TVs would turn on.

TV's run off the 120 V (shore power)system, not the 12 V (battery) system.

No, the TV's require 120 VAC to operate.

Thanks for the help. I’ll wait to figure that out after service is added here at home.

I personally discourage using the slides and other high voltage (dc) users until you get something to charge the batteries and power the converter. You will damage who knows what if you just want to sit and use it with the dealer supplied batteries (probably inadequate). Get the AC hooked up, an adequate generator or something but don't just try to run everything on batteries until it "dies".

Understood. Won’t “use” it without hookup. Just working thru it this weekend to learn what I can. Only lights on occasionally so far.

Keep in mind that just sitting there, it will run down the battery or batteries. There is a lot of parasitic draw, plus operating lights, slide, awning, fridge, etc. Will run them down pretty quick.

If you have a portable generator you could plug the Alpine in and this will run converter thus supplying 12 vdc and 120 vac to the unit...

Don’t run the air conditioners or microwave unless generator is at least 4000 wats.. and then only 1 AC unit

Additionally the converter will charge your batteries and run your fridge.. which 8 am assuming might be a residential Samsung

Using a generator a few hours a day will keep batteries charged and also let you familiarize yourself with your In Command systems and other 120 and 12 VDC items.

"Pretty quick", for most RV's means that the battery/batteries will completely discharge (possibly ruining them) in 4 or 5 days of "just sitting there"...

Either take the batteries out and take them home to put on a charger (if they are discharged) or just disconnect the battery cables if you're going to leave it sitting there, "unattended" for more than a day or two.

Things in the trailer will draw power from the battery even if "everything is turned off"... The remote control receiver is always on, same with the memory circuit/clock in the stereo, the LP gas detector and possibly the carbon monoxide detector. So, even if you "turn everything off and lock the door" the trailer will keep on discharging the battery until it's completely dead....

Disconnect the battery to protect it or you'll probably be buying a new one in a week or so.

Also make sure when the 50 amp outlet is added to your barn that it is wired correctly for the RV...

Else you will not be a happy camper...
