Now an RVIA registered tech. Retired from Law enforcement in 2008 after 25+ yrs.

Chris, since you already understand from Chip's guidance I will put it in a vernacular so that us old farts can understand. Y'all remember when Dad and Mom let you buy that first car/truck and it wasn't good enough the way it was.
For some unknown reason it is in a young person's mind that they have to do something strange and wonderful to that vehicle to make it "their own."
That feeling doesn't go away for men and women in the RV'ing circle.
