GM 2500 6.0 Mileage

What kind of mileage are you guys getting with the 6.0 gasser?

Looking at maybe 2011-2012 GM 2500 crew cab 4x4.

Does your tranny hold going down interstate?
I have a 5.3 and can get 9-10mpg but it is always shifting down to hold speed or you work you but off feathering the footfeet.

My truck is in signature below. I get 12 everyday driving, 14 on Highway if I'm nice.
Towing 12k 5th wheel average between 7 and 10 depending on wind, Hills etc.
I will say that with the 4:10 axle and the 6 speed transmission, it is a great combination for a gasser. I'd say bulletproof but I do keep an eye on the transmission temp. The highest I've seen is 205 f on steep Hill in 90 degree weather.

WOW! Those numbers make me feel even better that we went with a diesel. We easily get 22 mpg on the highway at interstate speeds, and get 10 to 13 mpg towing our 2012 3402 Montana. The 5.3 is a great engine, had it in a previous 1/2 ton GMC, but you will trash it trying to tow heavy loads. If you only vacation with your rig, the 6.0 will work great for you, but you may want to add an additional tranny cooler. We full time, so we almost had no option other than diesel.

Seems like the 5.3 is over capacity but working. I get equal or better mileage with my 8.1L gas & Allison. I hear rhe new 6.2L coming out is an even better gas setup...trade up time.

Have a 2010 GMC 2500HD 4x4 crewcab with the 6.0 gasser and 3.73 gears. In the summer I can avg 14-15, winter it drops to 11. That is for combined city and country roads. I actually do better on 2 lane highways at 55-60 mph than on the interstate at 70 mph, can average 17-18 at 55-60 mph. Towing my 8000 lb travel trailer I avg'd 8 mpg towing from Ohio to Florida. Kentucky and Tennessee are fairly hilly and it was at 65-70 mph, tranny didn't do alot of shifting, don't remember the temps, so it must not of been bad enough for me to remember. Seeing as how I'm a weekender and 1 big trip every year or so, the diesel didn't make sense, especially with fuel prices right now, gas around here is staying about $3.20, diesel is staying about $4.20.
