2008 Tundra
We tow a Cougar 5th Wheel that weighs 6500 unloaded. We just completed a 13000 mile trip. Most of the time we got 11 miles per gallon with a low of 9 when climbing mountains in Idaho and 13+ coming down the Sierras. The key is how heavy my foot was. I kept the speed at around 56-58 mph. If I went faster, the milage dropped. Additionally, I have a louvered 5th wheel tailgate that has proven invaluable when not towing. The truck did beautifully.
The truck has a 5.7 liter engine with a tow package. At times the transmission seemed a bit confused and would stay in a lower gear beyond when I thought it should shift up but the only problem we had was a turn signal in Asheville, North Carolina.
This trailer is rated for half tons, but I think the Tundra is a 3/4 ton in disguise.
