This is what most tire shops will tell you including DT. I have "coerced" my local shop (they said I shouldn't do it) to put upsized tires (called for a rim 1/2 wider) but I knew the current owner's dad (who owned the shop) for many years prior to him taking over. I took that same vehicle to DT and wanted the same size tires in a different brand (Michelin) put on the vehicle. The manager came to me and said they would not do it, nor any DT store. We then went through all the tires that they WOULD install. Just as your post says, they will not put a less rated tire than OE. They WILL put on any tire that is equal to or more than the OE tire as long as it fits the criteria you stated. Ended up with Michelin Premier LTX for DWs SUV and really liked them.

It's been the "year of the tire" so far for me. About 5 weeks ago I replaced my tow vehichle tires (Michelin's ATX2) with MICHELIN DEFENDER LTX. They are 275/70R18 125R LRE and I looked at Cooper, and other brands but Costco put 4 on for just under $1,200 with m&b so there we are. Just had 4 new Carlise Radial Trail HD put on the trailer 2 days ago. Last year I bought a matching Sendel TO3 rim and tire so the spare is good. Now I need to fing that rubber credit card (showing my age, I use a length of fuel line to siphone fuel) to pay for deisel! Still running $5/gal +/- .015

Mine came with the T03 wheels, but I had to change them out when I went to LRG tires because they’re only rated for 80 psi. I liked the looks of them better than my current wheels. Wish I could have left them on.

I've had great luck with the Defenders and that's what will be going on this truck as soon as these Firestones (Transforce AT) get iffy to me. Took the last OE set off at 28k and these are at 31k so they're getting close. Tread is great and probably run 70k - I just don't trust them.

Dang it, I'm tired of buying tires. Last January I put new Hercules on the 5th. Last week I put 6 new Coopers from DT on the Ram ($1600+). The GoDevil has the new LR D Carlisles under it. The utility trailer is next. More Carlisles I guess.

Tell me about it. New tires on the truck 2 years ago. Car trailer, jeep, RZR, utility trailer all last year. Daily beater this year, RV next year. DT knows me very well!!

Took my wife’s car to get new tires a year or so ago. She has a little infinity. It has larger tires in the rear. They put two of the rear tires on one side of the car and the two front on the other. I stopped to get gas on the way home and noticed it … flew back and the Mgr switched them. I’m glad I paid attention lol

The T03-56655T-1+ is good for 95 psi. I went from OEM D to E's so I only need 80 psi. For anyone reading along, you cannot use metal exterior bolt in valve stems. The only bolt in stems that fit are the interior bolt in stemslike TRE48 Mount.

Good catch, I guess it was 95. Still wasn’t enough for the LRGs. Plus the rep at Sendel told me to change them ASAP because they were maxed on load and he said eventually they would crack where the spoke meets the hub. Many others had the same problem with heavier trailers.
