New trailer ordered, a non Keystone.

Well I should post that around March 2022, I will be taking delivery on a Outdoors RV TT. It's their 24KRS Backcountry. The company is in La Grande Oregon. I beleive they have been in business about 10 years.
We have been wanting to go to a 5th wheel in the 30ft range and likely another Cougar but, living in Idaho an off road vehicle that can be hauled in the truck bed or even towed behind RV becomes more likely. While looking at current Cougar travel trailers, a friend mentioned this company and has ordered a 29 ft toy hauler. I found a dealer in Boise and did a walk through on other lines of the company.
This line is geared to off grid camping it comes with solar and genny, 2 6 v batteries and 2 more if I pay more. Walls and ceiling are 2 inch thick. Holds 100 gal fresh water. A GVWR 9995 lbs vs current trailer at 7200lbs GVWR. When I checked MSRP on Cougar vs Outdoors in same length Outdoors is around 5,000 bucks more.
They are a small company, I bet most have never seen or heard of it. Dealer said they don't have any dealers east of Wyoming. Mainly selling in the US PNW and Western Canada.
Not trying to sell anyone on this company, just explaining a little about my choice. I must say my Cougar has been really good to us. Normal maintenance items beyond one warranty replacement in repairs. Although I hated living in the Cougar for 1 month. It was not the trailer that made me mad, it was the circumstances of having a new home loan delayed a full month due to Coivd 19. In the end my wife and I were glad to have the Cougar it preformed great during that month. Everything else not so much.

Congrats, Ken. Getting the rig that suits your needs is the main thing. I've seen several Outdoors RV's on the highways but don't know much about them. Good luck on the next phase of RVing. You will stick around, though, right?

Congrats Ken. From what I know about you I think that type of RV might be right up your alley. I've seen advertisements? about Outdoors RVs but never one in person. Hope it fits you like a glove and you enjoy it immensely. Hang around and keep us in the loop.

Wow... they are building those Back Country campers stout. Great choice if you are going off grid. I personally like a concrete pad and pedestal but there is something about sitting out where there isn't anyone else around that is appealing.

Thanks guys! I will be around, the dealers manager signed the contract with what he will pay me for the Cougar now or when the new trailer comes in. We have 2 trips planned in the next few weeks. So for now I am keeping the trailer.

Funny thing was before we left the salesman put his finger to his lips and said we will sell it for 7,000 more than he offered to pay you. Sell it or bring it in, it does not matter.
On the way home we decided to maybe sell it ourselves.

Hi Ken. To be honest, I have never heard of Outdoors RV. But it's kind of unique that La Grande is also the home of Northwood RV, maker of the Artic Fox series which we see quite a bit around here in Washington State. And then I believe the Cougar line of Keystone is produced in Pendleton. So is eastern Oregon becoming the next Elkhart, Indiana?

Their is a connection in that the owner of Outdoors RV is Mr. Nash who owes Northwood, Artic Fox and Nash RVs. Maybe other rv names that I do not know. La Grande has been the home of Western trailers and Eagle Cap truck campers.
To me it is a small city to support that type of companies, but it's seems to be working out.

Congrats Ken, I really like the Outdoors RV products. I'd have one except their small 5er will put me over my payload limit. Really nice outfits though.

There are heavy for sure. I have decided to toss the current 2" WDH in with the sale if the buyer does not have one. The bars are 1,000 and new trailer would need 1200 maybe bigger. Also might as well step up to a 2.5 WDH just because I can. Likely not needed, but not really overkill either. They claim 965 lb dry hitch wt. just adding 150 or even 300 lbs of 6 v batteries and 2 full 40 gal propane tanks will push the tongue wt to or above 1200.
