Awning end cover for 2021 Avalanche 338GK?

Hello all!

We seem to have a problem keeping the outer cover on our awning forward ends.... not sure if the snaps are just weak, or what....

I can't seem to find this SPECIFIC cover anywhere online and Keystone isn't responding.... specifically for Carefree awning, Compass model - apparently no other model is compatible... I did order what I thought would work, but it didn't.

Any ideas for sourcing this?

Unfortunately Carefree of Colorado will be your only source and you may have to order the complete arm.

I really hope that's NOT the case... I can't be the only person to lose a cover...

I found covers available for many other Carefree awnings... just not the Compass model...

Keystone won't be of any help.
Carefree of Colorado would be your only option.

The Compass awning is not available as an aftermarket part. It is "OEM installed only"... So, trying to find parts that fit awning that dealers don't sell or stock is going to be difficult. That said, I think what you're looking for is this:

R001931-00X Cover Kit, Motor

It's located in your awning service manual on page 14.

If I were you, I'd call Carefree and discuss the specific part you need. Notice in the part number above the last digit is "X". There are at least 6 parts with the same part number except for that last digit. Your could be a -001 or a -006 or anything between. Carefree would be your best "assurance of getting the right part. Give them a call at (303) 469-3324 during business hours Mountain time.

Now to find one.... I determined that I need the -006 for black right hand....

Been on hold with Carefree for a while after getting busy signal prior for quite some time...

Did you get the cover? My exact same one (I think) has gone MIA! I hate not having it in there and having that motor and those wires exposed

I ordered one, but have not gotten any feedback from the vendor…

I talked to Carefree and as expected… they were of no help.

I will update IF I get one…. Likewise, I’d appreciate anyone else that finds the ne to chime in…TIA!

I have the same piece missing on mine. Bought brand new off the assembly line and pulled from Indiana to GA and it went missing in between. I can not stand to have a 80k+ rig and have something as simple as this missing or fly off in travel. I’ll be watching this post for info anyone may have and I’ll share if I find the part.

We brought home our 2021 Avalanche 312rs and it was missing the same cover! I ordered one from RVupgrades.com for $16.95, got on the ladder and snapped it in place. The only problem was the back tab did not quite connect, but seems pretty solid.

This is for Longitude model… ours is Compass model… tried it and won’t fit.
Looked like it wouldn’t work even with modifications..

And it costs half the item price in shipping to return… decide to keep it and as a last resort, I’ll make it work.

I received a reply from Keystone and they are shipping me a replacement!

IF I get the correct part - I'll post up the success.

BTW - the one I previously ordered had the order cancelled - vendor said they couldn't source the part... no surprise.

Received the much anticipated box from Keystone...

They sent me a metal 'end cap'....

I realize now I should have given them the actual PN I need... trying again.

You have to admit, they're trying..... just missing the mark each time...

Here's what I got this time.... covers for Dometic awning... (remember, I have Carefree awning)

The frustrating thing is, I provide the part number I need every time.... and they have not shipping anything close to the part number.

Do us a favor and post the information for the correct part number, model number and any "identifying information" that might help the next member who "loses one on the highway and doesn't have Jeannene to fall back on after warranty".....

Also - Keystone does not want the incorrect end caps returned - so if anyone sees one they need, I'll ship it to you free if you pay the shipping. (even the incorrect one I purchased and ended up keeping)

I really don't want to toss them in the trash... and prefer not to give them to a dealer who will make money.... prefer to pay them forward to another RV'er.
