Weighing 1 wheel at a time?

I think about this for maybe 30 seconds occasionally. How and where do I weigh 1 wheel at a time to determine if 1 side of an axle is overloaded?

Don't know. Axle weights are typically fine. If you are this close, you need to do something to beef up the suspension. Tires (load and speed), springs, overloads, and perhaps even a different truck

What would you have the guy go to? The Honda Ridgelines are on backorder....
I'd say he's pretty much maxed out.

If they allow at the scales, you drive right side on, 1 axle at a time. Repeat for left side. DOT scale houses may have "Jump Scales" which are single portable scales. If their not busy, you could ask them if they would let you or them wt. your wheel/tires each. The Big no-no is parking on the scales. Park away from the scale lanes and go in and ask.

I weigh occasionally, mostly just out of curiosity. I'm good on the truck.
But I can see how the 5th could be out of balance side to side. The kitchen slide is likely much heavier with the large residential fridge, pantry, stove, oven and microwave. We usually have the fridge and pantry packed full. The other slide just carries the dinette and the 2 recliners.
The last CAT scale I was at had pipes on both sides to "guide?" folks on the scale pads. I could see no way to get just 1 trailer wheel on the pad.

What is a DOT scale house? I'd just as soon avoid the scales with the weight troopers hanging out. I'm not licensed for what I'm weighing, yet. I promise...one of these days.

DOT scales is where the weight police work. Some are open if staffing permits.
Check your area, around here you just drive into them and weight what and how you want.

In the Peoples Republic of Marland driving into or on a state weigh station will get you "CHEWED OUT" if your lucky, a ticket if you're not. I'd verify the "friendliness " before just showing up.

In Texas the scales are not active if station is not staffed.

In Md most have an illuminated sign for open or closed. I know someone who drove in when it said closed. Shortly afterwards a MD State trooper came in behind him. He went home with a citation for driving on a closed road.

Yea, different states have different laws. In Oregon if a DOT is closed it means the station is closed and no trucks need to stop, but not that the public cannot drive through and weight.
Some Comm. truckers want to use them as a rest stop when closed and that's normally not allowed.

Liberty, Texas? Do you have any Cotton Gins around there? I work part time seasonal at our local Gin which has an outside display turned on all the time. I have been able to weigh my rig on each side plus pin weight using a forklift.

Yes Liberty Texas. No, no cotton gins. If any farmer tries to grow cotton it makes the local newspaper. Used to be plenty before my time. Now it's rice, soybeans, or sorgham.
