I have been pulled wrenches for many years and was always taught when the newer Torque wrenches came out to take them back to zero. This takes the pressure off the springs so that they do not get stretched and the torque settings remain constant. I also try each year to have my torque calibration checked, most Snap-on dealers will do it for free no matter what brand you might have. As to the ones from Harbor Freight I have always found that when checked they are usually 20 foot lbs. low.
For safety sake remember you get what you pay for and going cheap is not always the best policy. My current torque wrench is a Craftsman and in 10 years of use it has always checked out as being right on.

Yeah, but if you stick around, you’ll find that lots of threads don’t stay on the expressway, but rather exit and re enter down the road. Some exit and never get back on, it’s the nature of forums.

As long as they don’t get too far into the weeds or crash and burn, we all enjoy the ride.
