Retirement training canceled

Still kind of shocked but a trifecta of events got me laid off from a job where I only worked 180 days a year. Got a new job but its a typical M-F grind with a 1/2 day every other Saturday. So the DW and I are trying to figure out out to get the most use out of the Tumbleweed now that we are really cut down to weekend trips and have to compete for campsites with all the other weekenders. I know there are a lot of retired people here but how do the rest of you that are still working do it?

We did the "leave Friday after work, return Sunday" "local" trips (under 3 hrs travel) for many years. Seemed like you no sooner set up camp and you were breaking it down again. Also used some individual vacation days to stretch out week ends but with a new job I doubt you'll have that option.

Use your time wisely. Take stuff to camper days ahead, not day of departure. If you don't have it at home to cool/load the fridge ahead of time than pack an ice chest and have it ready to "grab and go".

I don't miss camping under those circumstances but I did enjoy the money! Oh well, I wish I was born rich and not good looking. Shut, I guess I missed the good looking line too.

Marshall,
I just haven't reached that magic maturation age yet . Can't even start to collect on my 401K Some of you might say I am still a young wipper snaper but 30+ years of physical labor and being an "Industrial Athelete" have taken a toll on the body. Luckily I can still pass a DOT physical and drive a tractor trailer. I missed both rich and good looking too

I can relate. I'm 66 and was forced change careers many years ago due to a work injury (a simple slip and fall) that resulted in 7 cervical spine surgeries and 6 surgeries on my left shoulder and arm over the years.

After the first cervical fusion the surgeon said I wouldn't be able to work in 5 years. I started working smarter and not overextending myself as much and it was about 13 years before I was forced to stop. The stress of fighting chronic pain for several decades has taken its toll as well.

I was forced into early retirement over 5 years ago but fortunately had disability insurance so my 401 k is still intact. Do your best to take care of yourself as we are only given one body

Do what
