2nd A/C Unit Question
Hi all. We have a 33MLS that came "wired" for a second A/C unit in the bedroom. I'm stuck between deciding on a 13.5 and 15k unit. It will not be ducted and only cooling the bedroom. The 15k unit cools the rest of the camper just fine. What are the benefits to both? I feel like the 13.5 will do just fine by itself and wouldn't need as much of a generator in the future to run if we boondock. I feel like 15k is overkill for the little space and not worth the extra power draw. Opinions are welcome. Thanks.

I've got a 13.5 for our bedroom. It does the job really well. More than enough.

Most all come from the factory with the small one and in that small room it is way more than enough.

Is the power draw between the two enough of a concern? If we ever boondock I'd like to be able to have A/C in that room for comfort sleeping without having to buy a huge generator.

This is what my setup looks like. The outlet is where the power feed runs to. Do I just drill a hole to run it to the larger hole in order to connect it to the ceiling unit? I would have thought that the power feed would run into the larger hole and not an "outlet" beside it.

You don't need a 15k in the bedroom. A non ducted 13.5 will run you out. If the 15k cools the rest of the camper just fine that is all I would get. If non ducted, use the dump feature for just the bedroom and you can hang beef in there.
You should be able to use the available power lead on the AC installation by routing inside the ceiling and the existing outlet will remain with a blank plate.

2nd AC
I installed a second AC a couple of years ago, 13.5 will freeze you out of the room. The install was easy hardest part was getting the thing on the roof, after removing the vent you should be able to run the wires thru the ceiling to the outlet for connection. The only problem is the noise, even on low it is loud!

Ended up getting a Coleman Mach-3 Plus with a ceiling assembly standalone duct. I'll get it installed this weekend. Thanks all.

Little late but a ducted unit allows you to operate the bedroom unit and cool the family room quietly, or operate the family room AC to cool the bedroom without much noise.
Either way, you’ll be able to hang meat in the bedroom.

Thanks. There's a 15k btu unit in the family area that is ducted throughout the house. I was a little disappointed to see that the "prepped 2nd A/C" wasn't connected to the duct system, but it makes sense now. The one unit does a decent job throwing air everywhere through the ducts with the main baffles closed, but the bedroom stays a little warmer. We are headed down to Key West for a couple weeks and I wanted some extra cooling power for the trip. Now I can keep the main baffles open in the living room and kitchen and cool the bedroom with the new unit.

Me too. It's wood and styrofoam on 3 sides and the open side is on the opposite side from the existing duct and I assume is for the power.
