Non RV project

The wife is a PWC fiend. We’ve always had them and bought her a new one a few years back for our anniversary. Last ride of the season, it limped back to the ramp with no power. My suspicions were confirmed

New impeller and wear ring. Have the impeller in the pump housing and will bolt it all back together tonight. Dang Newton Meters though!

Is that a common thing? How does that actually happen?

Somewhat common. Jet Boats and Jet Skis both “suck” water in off the bottom and spin it out the pump to the back for propulsion.

Some set ups are better than others. This ski is know to do it a little more than others. Most small rocks and sand go right through no issues. This was a good sized rock.

On many Skis the wear ring that the impeller spins in is plastic, like this one is from OEM. So it gets beat up quicker and you lose suction. I replaced it with a stainless wear ring and new Solas impeller.

You Should alway be in 2’ of water to take off on a PWC to avoid sucking rocks. Jet boats are a little more forgiving

It would, but with the blow wear ring, it just made bubbles. It’s toast now
