Seems to me it depends on how much you use the oven. Yes at my age its a "pain" to get down low enough to light that pilot and then get back up

In my case we do not use the oven that much, therefore I light it when rarely needed and off each time when done. If I left it on it would be another thing to make sure is off when pulling out

I'm still working to keep Social Security solvent for all you retired guys, so most of our camping trips are long weekends.

But to the point, DW likes to cook and uses the stove and oven a lot. She'll light the pilot the first time she uses the oven and leave the pilot on. The next time she uses the oven it's usually preceded by some colorful language directed at some dummy who walked by, thought the oven was still on, and shut off the pilot by mistake.

Dear "some dummy who walked by, thought the oven was still on, and shut off the pilot by mistake."
I resemble that remark also. We tried leaving it on, but I turned it off regularly.

In the 5 years of owning our RV we have used the oven once. It was on a 90* day when my son wanted frozen pizza bread for lunch. I should have made him get down there and light the pilot light.
