Heading to Myrtle Beach from Wichita this summer

Heading out from flat Kansas through southern Missouri. Then heading to Pigeon Forge TN. . .not familiar with the mountains of Tennessee. . .any routes you would avoid? Excursion V-10 pulling a passport Ultra Lite bunk house.

I gone through most of those areas on I-40. There are some good hills but if your vehicles are in good shape and your take it easy. Watch your speed, radiator and transmission temperatures.

If you plan to stay on the Interstates, you shouldn't have any major problems. I drove from Chattanooga to Pigeon Forge on the Interstates with a F-150 and a 5k TT easily. Of course, you will have to speed up and slow down before hitting long grades up/down. Biggest problems are trucks that might want to push you off the road at the speeds you will be driving, fuel stops that are infrequent that have sufficient room for maneuvering in and out, and not riding the brakes.

Beautiful country outside of cities! Guess your planned stop in Pigeon Forge has no fire damage from last year?

From Pigeon Forge to Asheville to Columbia(SC) to Florence(SC) on the Interstates all good. Going into Myrtle Beach can be a traffic problem, as can Columbia and Asheville.

I enter TN on I-155 from Caruthersville to Dyersburg and then southeast to the I-40. I have not found the hills east of Knoxville to be a problem, paying attention to the items in previous posts. However, I avoid the non-interstate roads in southeast Missouri, as they can be narrow, winding and very hilly.

I will double check our Missouri routing. . .been down thru Branson and yes the back roads are pretty curvy

60 out of Springfield heading east is a good road, 4 lanes. Not sure that helps but it is not your typical MO up and down road.
