North to Alaska

Anyone planning a trip to Alaska should note that the Alaska Highway near Fort St. John, BC has been closed in both directions due to a large wildfire near there.

This is not the same inferno that has forced the evacuation of over 80,000 people in Ft. McMurray in Alberta and has destroyed much of the downtown area and several outlying suburbs.

The long range forecast is for more hot weather. There are hundreds of wildfires already burning in the northern regions of BC and Alberta so you might want to check the road and weather conditions in those areas before heading north to Alaska.
