3 slide truck camper

Our realtor today told us that they own a slide-in camper built by Host, in Oregon. It has 3 slides! I had to look them up and it is pretty cool. Dang heavy, though. Anyone been in one?

I have been in the host and the adventurer 3 slide out models. They are extremely nice and roomy inside and does not feel like a truck camper at all. Decent amount of storage inside an ok amount outside. They are heavy and if bought new at the beginning of the model year can be expensive. The 3 slide out models were on my list of a new trailer but eventually the 5er we have now won. It is amazing what they have become in the last 10 years. The floor you stand on is above the bed rails of the truck so there is usually no stepping up into the dinette or slide outs and now the beds up front are only about knee high so really no climbing up steps to get to the bed.

But with small kids it just wasn't for us at the moment.

Our realtor has an 8 year old and an 11 year old. It must be pretty tight when dining, etc, but they love it.

You'd be surprised that they are really roomy with 4 adults in it even dining.

I'd be nervous taking any corners over 20mph. It looks pretty top heavy!

I saw a couple of these coming across the Hi-Line (hwy 2) in MT last week. When meeting one, from farther away I was wondering what kind of strange looking 5'er I was meeting. It was only when they got close that I could tell it was a pickup camper. I've never seen ones so tall above the truck. Looked cool but they do look top-heavy (sway?) for driving.

I first seen one about 3-4 years ago, pulled into the camp ground, guy set it up, took alot of photo's of it and truck and left. It was with dealer plates. It was on a 1 ton dual rear wheels. Look up Artic Fox campers. I had a 990 model, that's 9 and 3/4 foot floor, for nearly 10 years. Last RV show they were MSRP 37,000 dollars. Thats still more than my 28 ft cougar.

A family in our campground last winter in Florida had one. They were there for along week-end. I only talked to the husband for about 10 minutes or so. He said that on the CAT scale with a little water, his wife, boys and gear it added over 5000 to the weight of the truck. They were in a GMC dually 4500 I believe. I would like to have seen the inside but he didn't seem like the kind of person who would have wanted to "show me around."

Well the "nosey" part of me took over. Wagner RV sales has one just waiting for you. For the tidy sum of $59K it can be your today. Oh, by the way, it weighs 4500 DRY. So those of you with your one ton SRW, you won't qualify!

Howdy All;

I've had 2 slide-ins in the past. One thing I recommend is to make sure
both occupants of the forward berth can get out and back in without having
to crawl over the partner. Ex # 2&4 was famous for placing one of her knees
directly on my bad knee, going in both directions. Hobbling around the
remainder of a weekend doesn't make it much fun. Bad knee ( mine was
eventually replaced).
Something to consider, the accessibility aspect that is ...

I'm thinking a F450 for that Host.
I like truck campers but the wife don't. That's what we started with back in the early '80's. I occasionally contemplate looking for a used one that will work on my SRW. Would be nice to make overnight trips pulling the boat.
