[QUOTE=JRTJH;141111]In either of the above situations, no matter "how much you make him suffer financially" the unfortunate reality that your 9 month old is no longer in your arms is the reality that won't change. "After the fact" lawsuits can "reward" suffering and loss with money, but we've yet to realize that "money after the loss" is no "reward."

Not in Canada, no real financial rewards would be granted, you would be fighting for the person who did it to serve as much time in a prison as possible. Your right that will not bring them back but to start I think it would help funnel the hatred you would have in the most productive manner.

We've somehow got to come to grips with the realization that personal responsibility and common sense go far to "PREVENT" a loss. Prevention, not "lawsuits after the fact" are the solution. I've no idea how we can get there, but threats of a potential lawsuit won't stop irresponsibility.

Only way to get there John is to educate and make examples out of those who feel rules do not apply to them.

Posts were getting argumentative and off topic. I thought the note about stepping back and taking a breath would be sufficient reason, but I guess not direct and to the point enough. Let's play nice folks!!

Likely set up by this guy. He has had people drive 23 hours to have him set up their hitch. People who use him swear by him. Read some of the reviews and watch the test videos. He claims to prove what he does in road tests, on a a old airport run way.

http://www.canamrv.ca/hitch-hints/

"Andy Thomson has been writing his Hitch Hints column in RV Lifestyles Magazine for 24 years, and Can-Am has been aggressively experimenting with tow vehicles and hitch systems for more than 40 years. Andy and Can-Am have earned a global reputation as The Towing Experts from decades of real world trials and tests. Can-Am designs and fabricates custom hitches that never sacrifice safety, and satisfy the most discerning travel trailer owners. - "

Randy, I've watched Mr. Thomson's videos and I agree the Hensley is a great hitch, and yes, I'm sure it does what Andy is suggesting. But my question remains, who is liable in the event you smack up hauling something totally overrated for your tow vehicle? "Andy Thomson says we were good to go, so that's ok with me." I doubt very much if your insurance company, or the lawyer for the plaintiff suing your a** would buy into that. At a recent show they had a Volkswagon Passat diesel hooked up to something outrageously large for the size of the tow vehicle. Personally, I'd be sticking to the manufactures recommendations and specs.
