2014 3500HD SRW Actual Empty Weight Anyone?
So I'm considering a new truck, for several reasons. Wondering if anyone has a 2014 4WD SRW Crew Cab Durmax and has weighed it empty?
Chevy website says a 4WD SRW 3500HD Duramax has a curb weight of 7375. The curb weight sounds light to me.
IF the curb weight is semi accurate and with my current rig and weights this would be fine. Even adding in the 300lbs of hitch and myself and fuel, I'd be good, under GVWR by 500-800 and under RAWR by ~800 or so and under GCWR by ~3000. Trailer has pin weight of 2700 and weighed in at 13300.
Not to be rude, but I'm not asking for yet another weight police debate, I'm asking if anyone can verify the empty weight of this model truck?
Other Chevy provided numbers are payload of 4125 and a GVWR of 11500. FAWR 5600 RAWR 7050. GCWR 24500.
FYI, I do NOT want a dually if I can find a SRW that fits the bill.
BTW, I'm asking because where I live there are few and far between 3500HDs to be found, so driving to a dealer lot to see if I can get this info isn't a real option.

2014 3500HD SRW Actual Empty Weight Anyone?
Not sure on a 2014 3500, but a 2013 2500HD 4x4 CC duramax weights 8120 with me, my son and wife. Full of fuel and a 16k sliding 5th wheel with all my lumber for jacks and leveling in it.
I'll be at a dealer Monday for service I can look and see if they have one.

Thank you!! Using the numbers from Chevy and my current truck empty and loaded I came up with a guesstimate of 8175 which is real close to your numbers. That would be on the high end for me, I travel very light and it probably would be less than that.
If you happen to see a 3500HD on the lot and get a chance to look at it and the door sticker I'd really appreciate it!!

Another consideration, is to get a 3500 in two wheel drive. Unless you NEED the 4 wheel drive.

Thanks, I've almost gotten stuck a couple times in a 2WD pulling a trailer, not that I off road but I do get into wet grass/gravel/mud etc at times so I prefer 4WD for that reason. And the 2014 Chevy numbers actually give you 400lbs more GVWR with the 4WD vs the 2WD.

I've used the 4x4 more than once with my RV's. In my part of the country selling a 2wd pickup, diesel or not is very difficult.

My truck in signature below weighs about 7100 empty, including bed tool box with about 200 lbs tools. Add about 300 for Duramax (mine is gasser).
My payload is around 3700 at 7100 lbs. Gvwr is 10,800.
Edit: i had to order my truck as SRW 3500s are not common in my neck of the woods. I didn't mind ordering because I had it built exactly as I wanted it.

Dealer didn't have any 3500's. Not much demand for them for private use. They special order or locate/dealer trade for 3500's if someone wants one.

The literature curb weights (as listed) are for a base model... a "Fully Optioned" (LTZ) with all the bells & whistles WILL weigh more than 7,375 lbs.

What is the curb weight of your truck? 8120lbs seems really low for a CC 4x4 with all that payload. This weight was with the pin weight of the 5th wheel? 16k at 20% calculates to a 3,200 pin weight not including the hitch.

Not sure of the empty curb weight, never scaled it without everything I carry.
8120 was just the truck, when scaled with my 2014 cougar 330rbk I had 10,660 on the trucks axles combined. That puts the pin weight at 2540.

That's not bad. That leaves you 1,880 remaining payload assuming your dmax has a 10,000 GVWR. I'm going to weigh my RAM 2500HD to see where I'm really at.

I'd check your tires and rear axle weighting. I can do a little over 2700 pin weight based on my rear axle and tires. I put less credence in GVWR on a 3/4ton. Considering the miner rear suspension difference. I also have a pin heavy 5th wheel with all of my gear stored in the front basement storage. I could get more in if moved stuff to rear of trailer, but if I have to start weighting everything I take I am not taking it.

Yeah in curious to see what they weigh in at. My front is 6000 GAWR and rear is 6500 GAWR. Tires are "E" rated. Is that about what yours is?

My rear axle is 6200 and my tires are rated for 3185 each, so I use the 6200 axle weight as my limit. My front is 5900 I believe. Which tells you right there the axles and tires are capable of 12,100 on the truck.

Love Chevy trucks...always have...but settled for Dodge ...RE: Cummins. Think they are in the same weight range.

Im kinda thinking that if the salesman really wants to sell you this truck Im sure he wouldnt mind a little test drive to the closest CAT scale. That is the only way your going to know the true weights You have to weigh the truck for your own piece of mind. Its better knowing what the weights are before you buy the truck than after. A lot of head banging here buying the wrong tow vehicle.the first time around. good luck
