Cracked Lug Nut
Hey guys n gals, I'm getting my 2018 Keystone Cougar ready for a westbound road trip next month and in doing so I am taking off her infamous 'China Bomb" sandals and installing new Goodyear Endurance mountain boots. In doing so, close inspection led me to four, not one but four cracked lug nuts. Since I bought this used, I am assuming they are from the factory install since the original owner hardly ever used the rig. Nonetheless, any ideas where I can get some close to factory style replacement lugs nuts? It is a 1/2-20 nut.
I attached a picture...not sure if it took.

That looks like a 2 piece acorn lug nut. There's nothing special about it. Take one to just about any auto supply store or measure the length and do a web search. Lugnutguys.com has a large selection as does etrailer.com, recpro.com, amazon, ebay, etc.

It’s just a silver metal sleeve over the actual lug nut. The actual lug nut is not cracked.

Ding dang Bustinbeards. You are correct. I just checked the threads inside the nut and they are in tact. I thought for sure the lug nuts were on too tight as I like to never got them off. I had to use the trusty Miluwakee Impact Driver to get them loose as my air impact wouldn't touch them.

! That's likely why it split. The issue will be getting a socket on it when the crack opens up further. Note that's a WHEN, not an if.

I would remove everyone of those two piece decorative lug nuts and buy a real chrome lug nut that's all one piece.. I did this back in 2014 on my current fifth wheel.. The OEM ones are junk and can cause an installer ... that's not paying attention to not get the lug nuts properly torqued during install..
Three step sequence for proper torque and centering of the wheel to the hub since RV wheels are lug centered and nut hub centered

Chuck is 100% correct. Those things will cause you grief at the worst moment. Dump them and get real lug nuts.
Had those things on a Ram truck. They deformed easily and often. I ended up buying 25 of them and kept replacing them for a bit until it was obvious that that was a poor solution - got real lug nuts and no more problems.

You should look at your spare and see if the acorn nuts will go on the rim. I had a flat tried and used the acorn nuts on the spare rim you’re talking about deformed try putting an acorn nut on a rim that’s not designed for it. I carry eight standard nuts for the spare tire and rim.

Replace them all. They are difficult to remove on the road.
