Slide out fuse

Hey, so it seems every time i go to use my slide the 30a fuse is blown, is this a common problem or is it to much of a load for a 30a, or is it shorting its getting a little annoying at this point to change out the fuse everytime i want to use the S/O.

thank you

Slide out fuse

It needs to go back to the dealer. I'm not familiar with what specific slide movement you have, but it shouldn't be popping the fuse. If it's the unit in your sig, it should be covered under warranty.

The simple fix is to replace the fuse with a circuit breaker. They are available at any NAPA dealer and most other automotive parts stores. Once replaced, even if it "blows the fuse" it will reset and be ready to go again in a minute or two.

The issue, however, is: Why is it blowing the fuse??? That's not normal and it would be much better to find out why under warranty rather than have an expensive repair bill to rewire the slide/replace the slide motor a couple of months after the warranty expires. I'd take it back even if it's a bit inconvenient, but above is the 'simple' fix if you're inclined.

Take it back to the dealer for the repair along with a list of anything else they should fix.

Is your battery fully charged??? When operating the slide are you plugged into shore power or still connected to the TV with engine running??? Low voltage can cause the motor to draw more amps and blow the fuse. Just a few more things to help trouble-shoot the problem. But still best to let the dealer check it and document for warranty. yup the first time it happened the batteries were low, the 2nd time it happened i had the batteries off charging at home and had the TT plugged into TV to bump out the slide, so im not sure if either is a problem, but now the batteries are fully charged for our next trip this coming weekend i will try it again before going back to a dealership.

if anyone else has a problem like this or heard would be nice to go to dealer armed with a little info on others problems & how they fixed it.

thanks

Slide out fuse

I blew a slide out fuse on my new Montana HC 343rl. It happen when We tryed to move two slides at once. We dont do that anymore. I looked around for the 35a fuse it took ,but couldnt find it any where. We checked with the factory and they came back with using a 40 amp fuse instead. Iam not sure if that will help you, but I would step up 5 amps and try it again. If you Blow that, it would be a good time to check in with your local service Dept. Ig

I blew a slide out fuse (30 amp) on my 2013 hideout this weekend. Turns out the terminal tension on one side of fuse was barely touching: had my son bumping the in switch while cleaning debris from slide roof. I believe bumping thr switch with all that amp load and poor connection heated the fuse to blow. I tightened the terminal with needle nose pliers and so far ok.

Hankpage has given you the correct answer. If your DC voltage is low, the amps will increase. Bumping up to the next size fuse could cause you to burn the wires (and the camper). Just make sure you have fully charged batteries as the Keystone manual suggests
