FIC door lock recall

Here is the link with all the info for the recall. I called today and they are sending new locks for my doors. It was very easy and the lady on the phone was very nice.

I just spoke with Whitney, super nice lady. I only have one door affected and they are sending both cylinders for that lock with a changing tool for me to do it. They are also sending a postage paid envelope for the tool as well as affected locks back.

Very standup job by Fastec!!

Thanks for posting this recall. I just bought my 2013 Alpine last April and I guess Keystone is a bit slow to notify new owners of issues. Both of my slam latch doors (four latches total) have the problem locks.

I think because of the volume of the problem, you will not be notified??? This is according to the recall notice from Fastec. I think if it was a lock that was keyed alike and all were affected, they would notify you. In this case, it is easier to publish the recall and let each consumer make the 2 minute phone call.

I also called and the woman I spoke with could not have nicer! She answered my questions and made sure I was comfortable with the info she gave.

I got in touch with the company responsible for the door lock recall. It seems it only applies if the lock is on the entry doors. As mine are only on the storage doors, the recall doesn't apply.

I just spoke to the FIC rep. and she said the recall only affects those mounted on the entry doors.
