Adding a water tap

Kinda tired of bringing water along for drinking, so I'm thinking of adding a tap just from drinking water with a good filter on the line. I'd like to add it right at the sink but am wondering how hard it is to drill a hole in the sink? I know I could just go through the counter top, but it might be too far from the sink then.

Is it hard to drill through the sink?

What about adding an under the sink water filter/purifier or, failing that, one that attaches to your kitchen faucet spout?

There are enough shapes, sizes and varieties of under the sink filters and "top of the sink" ones that are readily attainable from HD, Rona or elsewhere.

Both of these options won't require drilling of holes in your sink or countertop.

From the picture I saw of a 2014 model, there isn't much room around the faucet area to drill an extra hole. So…you could replace the faucet with a single or double hole model, depending on where the hot/cold handle is, and then use the third hole for the fresh water faucet. Or just drill a hole in the counter at the edge of the sink for that fresh water faucet. You're going to have to modify your plumbing either way.

This is what we did. If you have the same sink there is plenty of room for a water filter spigot. The filter is under the sink out of the way. We hate buying and storing bottles of water.

Is the sink plastic? Should be easy to drill or as others said a filter on the fauset. We go with the bottles, kept in the fridge, always cold and ready to go.

I'm trying a Brita filter attached to the tap to see if that keeps DW happy.

If not, I will do something like ThePressureIsOn did. I had similar in my last trailer and the filter was cheap and simple to change out.

She is just not fond of the taste of the water after sitting in the tank. I filter it going in, but it still picks up a taste after sitting. I was taking a 5 gallon jug from our house water, but am looking for something easier.

We filter the water for the whole trailer coming in. We use one of these filters:

And we use one of these to hold it upright outside the trailer:

We camp enough that I usually use two carbon filter cartridges per season.

Happy trails.

The water will pick up a plastic smell and taste if it sits in the tank for any length of time. One way to combat that is to put a quarter cup of baking soda in the tank (ours is 50 gallons). That seems to be a great way to cut the taste. We do it the first tank of water in the spring and usually don't need to add more soda for the rest of the camping season. We seldom use all our water and just top it off from week to week.

We also use a Brita pitcher filter for drinking water and coffee/tea.
