2012 Keystone Outback 280RS Question

Does anyone know how to hookup the exterior Range Top to Propane Gas?

We are on the road - Nevada/California/Oregon/??? and are not close to a Keystone or Suburban dealership. The Owner's Manual refers to the Suburban manufacturer and the Suburban data is only a list of Replacement Parts.

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. By the way going from 112 degrees in Las Vegas to 80 degrees in Oregon has been wonderful.

Should be a propane quick connect somewhere on the black iron pipe gas line that runs under the trailer

Stove should have a propane flex hose with matching connector.

As said above. On mine the propane outlet is WAY underneath the TT, centered under stove. Really only accessable by lying on your back under the TT.

After you have done that, and decided there must be a better way .... a scroll saw can easily be used to cut the extra trim siding off so you can easily reach it next time. Save the rubber bit along the bottom of the piece you cut off, and put it on the "new" edge so you don't cut yourself by accident.

My flex hose was in the outside "sink".

As said above, on our Outback 277RL the gas quick connect is located under the trailer right even with the center of the fold done galley shelf. Ours isn't too far underneath, but it is hooked onto the frame. Have to get down on my hands and knees to see it. There is a quick disconnect coupling and a valve you have to open once it is hooked up. Our hose is permanently connected to the Surburban cooktop, and just coils around it for storage.

Don't chop up your trailer. Are you kidding? The gas QC is under the trailer close to where the outdoor stove is, but you probably have to crawl under the trailer to get to it. Go to Home Depot, get a 1/2" pipe nipple long enough to extend it to the edge of the trailer. Unscrew the QC, take off the pipe, install the new nipple and put the QC back on. Use yellow thread tape for gas applicatons, not the white teflon tape. Rector Seal will also work on low pressure gas joints, but I happen to prefer the tape. It's an easy mod.

Outside propane connect

On our Outback 5er, it's located about 12 inches in from the siding, halfway between the entry door and the outside cookstove. For the first season, I crawled on the ground to hook up the stove. At age 69, that was not going to continue for long. I quickly learned, by feel, where the fitting is located. I simply sit sideways on the entry step, reach under and pop the hose into the connecter and flip the slide gas flow lever. No biggie. You can always put a small dot sticker where to reach under as a reminder.

I ruled out any gas line modifications due to Keystone warranty cancellation clauses. Now that the warranty period is gone, bye bye, and grand kids are growing and will be visiting the RV more frequently, I will strongly consider adding an extension all the way to the outside edge of the RV. Why Keystone does not do that, I will never know. It cannot be price. The extra length of pipe cost would be nominal. I personally believe they do not give a crap what any of us buyers think and do what is best for Keystone...every time. Sooner or later it will bite them. Harley Davidson did that for years and it almost took them down over time. Then a lightbulb went off and they sold to AMF. That REALLY killed them..wound up buying the Company back...I LOVE Harleys and have a biggie presently. HOWEVER for 20 years, I owned and rode Goldwings because of QUALITY. Harley learned the hard way. Keystone's turn is coming.
