Inverter

Hi,
I have a 2013 Hideout 20rdwe. I am replacing the refrig with a GE 12volt only model. Am I going to have to upgrade the inverter to handle it? The refrig max amps at 12 volts is 13amps

Your CONVERTER, not inverter should be fine. If you don't already have two batteries, that is something you should really consider and maybe a next size up from what you have or even two six volts in series.

Did you add 2 new batteries or just a new 2nd one? If you replace one you need to replace both. If not the older one will just scavenge off the new one until it degrades it as well.

Thank you for your comment. Both batteries are new! I anticipated that situation. New battery box and everything.
Thanks again,
John

If using existing wiring, double-check the gauge and length of run to the power source.

GE 12v fridge (at least the 9.8cf model) requires the following:

12AWG - max run 15'
10AWG - max run 35'
8AWG - max run 50'

When I swapped out my absorption fridge for a 12v, the existing 12v wiring I had in the compartment didn't cut it.

Thanks so much! You are all confirming that I’m doing the right things. The run is only 5 or 6 ft and I used some #10 automotive wire, so I should be more than good.
Thanks again for your reminder.
