where does the furnace draw air to run across the heat exchanger? You would think they would put a filter there . It's no different than a house system it's going to get full of stuff without a filter . OK thank you guys-Todd
Hey Ron nice truck !

Our furnace return is below the fridge - no filter
I have thought about mounting a filter on the back of the wooden grill, but, even one of those low restriction foam filters would create some restriction which could reduce the airflow?
Don't know if this helps

I asked this question a couple years ago when I had my tt furnace worked on. The service tech told me that airflow is critical to these compact rv units. The way people forget to change their filters on their home furnaces would cause problems with the rv units. Hope this helps.

The airflow return on our furnace is under the refrigerator,, right beside the stove/oven, but that space under both those areas where the furnace is located is open to the hot water heater, kitchen base cabinets, and a number of cabinet doors that open all along the cabinetry. There'd be no way to effectively seal off that one area to force airflow through a filter. Besides, in all my years of RVing, I've never had a problem with a clogged heat exchanger on an RV furnace. Burned out/rusted out exchanger, control board malfunctions, lots of empty propane tanks, dead batteries, dirt dobber nests in the exaust, but no filter related problems. I guess our RV's are just "cleaner" than our houses

My furnace return is below the fridge, so I measured it and put a filter in. I discovered during a dry camping trip that the furnace senses airflow and won’t run if there isn’t enough airflow so I removed the filter. Our airflow issue was due to insufficient power in our 12V battery, but it convinced me to not restrict airflow into the furnace.
