Hi, Hubby and I just Retired.
We purchased a 2018 Fuzion 369 toyhauler. Sold our 30' pull trailer toyhauler. We started our RV life with a 74 western wilderness 11 1/2 ' truck camper and a 75 ford f250 camper special. A long way from our current 2022 Ram 2500 we use to pull our 5th wheel.

Welcome to the forum. You might want to check the payload on your truck. That trailer is 39" long with a 17K GVW. The empty pin weight is listed as 3,120 lbs and at GVW would likely be 4K. I think that trailer would challenge the payload of most 3/4 ton trucks.

The 22 is a HD with 5th wheel puck system, it should have the 1 ton suspension, and Cummings Diesel. It should be a 20,000 payload.
We are right at its max i believe, it does pull it pretty well with the shot trips loaded with our sxs up hill not a problem, 6% grade.

Check the sticker inside the drivers door, no way it is 20,000. I think if you take it to a scale you will find out you are really close, or maxing out your trucks payload. Been there and had to upgrade my truck.
Welcome and enjoy retirement. We hope to, my wife retired in December.

Your camper is very heavy. 17K lbs gross weight. Typically the gross weight multiplied by 23 percent will give you a good idea what your pin weight is. You pin weight is north of 3900 lbs. Add hitch, passengers, other stuff in truck and you are closing in rapidly north of 4700 lbs pin weight.
You actual legal payload is on a yellow/white placard in your door frame. It looks like this and your 3/4 ton truck is very likely heavily overloaded and if you are in any sort of accident, LEO and insurance investigators will nail you. Towing overloaded is unsafe.

Others will chime in but what you are looking for is your payload sticker..it will say occupants and cargo cannot exceed x number of lbs. the 10000 your seeing is the gvwr…it’s the weight of the actual empty truck plus the payload capacity and it can’t exceed a total of 10000
It’s usually a yellow sticker on the door jamb or end of driver door itself..your payload is probably around 2500 lbs or less…your fifth wheel tongue weight probably pushes you far over
I was in your predicament myself with a much lighter fifth wheel..I had to upgrade trucks….many people before you and I were in the same boat
You need to hook up and head to a cat scale…do a site search under tow vehicles or cat scales and you should find out all you need…others will probably chime in though. Good luck

That means everything added to your truck after coming off the line can not weigh over 2209 lbs. You need to add the weight of passenger, fuel in the tank, tools and other stuff, weight of hitch and the pin weight of your trailer. according to Flybouy the empty pin weight is 3120 lbs, that along puts you over the 2209 payload.

2209 is the thruck payload when it left the factory. Payload is how much weight the truck an CARRY not pull. That payload number gets reduced with everything that you place in or on the truck. The fith wheel hitch itself can weigh 200 lbs or more. You are seriously overloading that truck. You should be towing that size trailer with a 1 ton dual rear wheel truck.

Just know you're not the only one!
To further confuse folks the rv/truck manufacturers tend to advertise the weights that mean absolutely nothing in the rv towing real world.

So does your trailer say "HALF-TON TOWABLE" on the front, like everything else Keystone sells that... isn't?

Thank goodness I'm not the only one.
This is all great information, it kinda worried me. In talking to our friend. Whom has the same truck and pulls a 40' montana, we are at the trucks max, but like he said " we will be ok pulling it with the truck we have "

You might be alright pulling it and have no issues, many people do. I did at one time before I did research and learned more about payload and truck capacity. If you are ever in an accident, even a minor one, and they check your weights, you could have major legal issues.

Yes now I'm very aware of the issues we could have INS wise. I will talk to our agent about this, just to get information from him, and will go from there.
Thank you for all this great information!

No you are not at "the truck's max" you have far exceeded it. Your "friend" I'm guessing doesn't understand weight ratings either. That's like a 5'2" person weighing in at 350 lbs stating that they are at "an ideal weight". Clearly your truck is insufficient for that size & weight trailer. The fix is simple, buy a capable truck or replace the trailer with one that's appropriate for the truck.
