Fredericksburg is a zoo anymore, used to like to eat out there but won't anymore because I don't want to deal with all the people. I go there and use it as home base. Most of the hill country used to be my area "back when" - we lived in Marble Falls. When we bought a utility company in Kerrville it fell under my umbrella and got to spend quite a bit of time there. I stock up on fresh bratwurst, german sausage and peaches in Fredericksburg.

If you are in the mood for a first class dining experience, try the Rose-Hill Retreat in Albert just east of town: https://rose-hill.com/ We have stayed in Stonewall at the dumpy motel there to tourist in F-burg and then ate a first class meal at Rose-Hill. I wouldn't stay there as it is a budget buster.
