Question on replacing shower head

I was wondering what is the best shower head replacement to improve the pressure. Ours in our camper is weak and with the water at beach it never quit feels like you have gotten all the soap out of your hair. We are headed to the beach for Thanksgiving week and hope to change it out. Thanks in advance for your help.

YOu might want to consider the Oxygenics shower heads. They are designed to conserve water and you can also adjust the spray to the desired flow. If you are on city water and not worried about conserving water in your FW tank, then this might not be one you are looking for.
For more info about them, their website is : www.oxygenics.com
They are available at CW.

If you do not have much pressure in your shower, try removing the thin mesh screen from the wand or shower head. Sometimes, debris from "who knows where" gets into the line, clogs the mesh and restricts the flow. Often, a good cleaning of this screen will improve the flow.

x2 on the oxygenics head. and x2 on the restriction. If you've never cleaned the debris from the mesh screens on the shower and faucets, you'll probably find them pretty clogged from the initial debris in the water tank and lines.

X5 and love it.
We were not in the market for one but roaming through CW and saw them and said why not, they look nice. I'm glad we did. Works much better than the OEM.

If, after you receive and install the Oxygenics, it still doesn't result in an improved shower flow, don't forget to check the mesh ---- if it is still in the line after removing the old unit.

Which model Oxygenics shower head do you recommend? There are a number of different models from $20 to $60?

thanks

This is the same one I installed. Bought at Southern RV for about 35 bucks. Can be had cheaper at other places I think, but Southern is on my commute to and from work.

oxygenics

Would it be the classic series that works best, For added pressure and possible water savings ?.

I've been told and read some folks were having issues with the white one breaking and was told to order the Chrome or brushed one. I ordered the Chrome and love it.

Howdy All;

Quick question;

Is there a way to shut-off the water flow on the snakeheaded model (see links in prior posts), that everyone is choosing? You know shut it off to soap up an then turn it back on without having to adjust the hot/cold ratio all over again ?????

Thanks,

hankaye

Hankaye,

I am sure you could find a way to install a inline shut off. We have the chrome one and its a low flow head. I take a normal shower and never run out of hot water. The DW takes a shower and she will run low on hot water towards the end.
We found out I don't turn the hot water valve as much as the wife. 1/4 turn hot and 1/8 turn cold and I can take over 8 min shower and still have ton's of hot water for the wife. I use electric and propane together. The DW was turning the hot water on almost full blast then the cold water the same amount and ran out very quickly and made for a bad start to the day so I explaned what I do and the results were

Try changing how much you turn the water on and start with the hot water first then add a small of cold to bring the water to the correct temp. You still get tons of water flow and no need for a military shower.

Good luck and Happy camping.

Inline shutoff is a bust (for me). Cold water has more pressure, so it forces the hot water back into the pipes, leaving me with nothing but FREEZE when I open up the cutoff. Dunno why there’s more cold water pressure. This is when I’m hooked up to shore water. So I just manually turn off the water at the cold and hot water knobs.

However, I’ve learned to turn on both gas and electric modes on my water heater before I take a shower and it seems to give me a long enough supply of hot-enough water to take a full shower without having to turn it off navy-shower-style.

sdayman & Hunter757, Howdy;

Thanks to the both of ya.

I've seen some discussions about the Hot/Cold bit with the pressure differential problem. Apperas that it can be corrected by elininating the check vavle at the hot outlet of the HW tank and going to the 'Old Style' HW Tank cut-out for winterizing.
Going to have ta do some more research.

Hunter 757, thanks couldn't get an answer even from the manufacturer. Girl on the phone hadn't a clue ... Also the knobs on mine (Hot anyway), turns and turns and turns, finally get to full, otherwise not much comes out of there.
Think it needs replaced. So, when I get it dfigured out I'll do all of it at once. Then be done with it.

Thanks to you both for the replys and thoughts.
