Just a quick Question about Rain and Slideouts....

OK, bear with me here, I'm a newbie in the RV world. So yesterday, I've got one of my slides extended out and I'm working on the Toy Hauler doing stuff in preparation for the upcoming season. At the end of the day, I locked everything up and left the slide out overnight. Well, it rained pretty hard last night (slide still extended) and there was no water inside the trailer, but my question is this. When the slide is still wet on the roof and sides, and then you retract the slide back in before it completely dries out, is there anyway to keep from getting that runoff water in the trailer. I know it's not a big deal, but I'm thinking that if I run it back in before it completely dries, am I going to have any issues.....or maybe mold forming somewhere?

Sorry if this seems petty and stupid, but asking is how you learn.....Right?

There are wipers on the edges of the slide top sides and bottom. They act to wipe rain and most debris from the slide body as it is retracted. Hope this helps.

It's not petty or stupid at all, and yes asking is learning.

The opening of the trailer will have sweeper seals on the top and sides. These seals are designed to "sweep" debris and water off the exterior surfaces so it doesn't get inside. They work pretty good, but since the sides may have windows and the roof isn't smooth as glass, a small bit of water will make it in.

I have a few beach towels from the thrift store just for wiping off the slide roof once it's in. Other option is slide toppers.

I love this forum....thanks for the quick replies guys. You know, now that y'all have mentioned it, I've seen the "wipers" on the trailer, but never put two and two together. I'm claiming....."not enough caffeine" as my excuse.

Thanks again.

I also towel the slide off. Many times up here in the wet side of Oregon. The slide is wet when retracting. We have a slide topper which helps also. We have also left towels on the floor on each end of the slide. Not sure it helps much but, the idea is any water left on the top or sides runs down into the towel instead of the floor as we travel.
