Post awnings

Hi all I have bought a new 377se raptor and was looking at getting a addittional awning for the back over the rear side door. I have contacted keystone and they do not recomend it due to the side walls do not have the proper bracing. I was told that it is also my trailer and I could do as I wish. My question is has anyone installed a awning on a trailer like mine and did it come out ok? They say the crossmembers are 16" apart I cann't understand why it won't work if I mount on the xmembers. Just looking for input. Thanks
