Dometic a/c's which hard start kits?

Hi guys I'm new to the forum. I just picked up a 2013 Mountaineer 346lbq. It has two AC's. A 15k and a 13.5k.

I'm purchasing a Honda eu6500is to power the 5er since my current yamaha ef3000iseb won't come close.

In my last TT I was able to power the 15k ac while in Econ mode after adding a hard start kit to the ac with my ef3000iseb. Before kit it wouldn't start in Econ mode.

I'm wanting to install hard start kits on the dometic AC's in my 346lbq for the same reason.

Anyone know where the model numbers would be on the ac's or the kit part#s I'd need? The manuals don't seem helpful.

I got my hard start info here:
http://www.modmyrv.com/2009/05/27/rv...tart-capacitor
And ended up getting the SPP6 for my Dometic 13.5k, which didn't give me the magic ability to run the A/C with my Yamaha 2000is. Oh well. It was an easy install.

If you are stepping up to a 6,500 watt Honda, I'd suggest that you wait and see if you even need a hard start kit for either A/C. If you find you need them, fine, but 6,500 watts is a whole lotta horsepower and may handle the unmodified A/C's without batting an eyelash.

Thx guys I'll see what happens. I know it will run and start both in normal mode, but I want to run in Econ mode so we'll see if it works.

Well to update. I have the genny, but it's been to cold to try the AC's. I did find the model#'s and the correct hard start kit if they don't run in Econ mode.

The model#'s are 459516.711C0 (15k BTU) & 457915.711C0 (13.5k BTU)

The dometic part# for the hard start kit is 3310727.015

Hmmm…RV Part Wholesaler says the Dometic kit will let you start and run a 13.5k with a Honda 2000. Maybe I'm a sucker, but I'll probably give it another try. RV Part Wholesaler has a Purchase Guarantee, so I figure if *they* say a 2000 will start and run the 13.5k, maybe they'll stand behind their guarantee.

The reason I quote your statement is the fact I am seriously impressed with the champion inverter generators compared to the statement made about your 2000is Yamaha.

Don’t get me wrong if my budget was there for the Yamaha’s I would still pick them over the champions due to the reputation and quality.

Based on my experience described below for the money I don’t think you can go wrong with the champions in combination with a 30amp TT set up.

I have 2 Champion 2000watt inverter generators that I purchased to run in parallel.

I tried starting the 13.5k Dometic ac unit with them in parallel (out of ECO mode) and it would start but very hard.

I purchased and installed a SPP6 in parallel with the standard run capacitor hooked up to the Herm and C terminals on the AC unit.

Then accidently attempted to start the AC with ONE of the generators and too my surprise the damn thing powered up better on one generator than the 2 in parallel before without the SPP6.

Once I noticed this I shut everything down powered up both generators in parallel and in ECO mode (ON) and too my surprise the generators powered the ac unit without a hick-up, this was also with the ac fan being started at the same time.

I now can cycle the ac on and off and the generators idle up or down depending on power requirements and I am one happy “camper” with my new quiet champion generators.

I will need to provide additional feedback as I use the equipment this year, current testing environment is approx: 75 degrees F and 800ft above sea level.

Please note during the testing I left all breakers on and to the best of my knowledge the on 12v battery on my camper was completely charged.
