Clewiston, Florida RV Park

Formerly a KOA Park, we have reservations there for this winter. Anybody have any experience with the park? They seemed like nice people on the phone of course, but I'm wondering about the facility and surrounding areas.

Not a ton of stuff in the Clewiston area but you'll have access to a lot of country roads for your HD. There is a prison down on that end of the Okeechobee. Lightsey Seafood isn't too far away and is a decent restaurant.

The best thing to do is go there and see what it's like and while there check out other Campgrounds in the area. There are plenty down there. The DW and I last year tried the East Coast at Port Saint lucie for a month and looked around at others in the area. We then went to the West Coast at North Port and looked up and down that coast. We found one that suited our lifestyle at the South end of Arcadia (closer to Port Charlotte) with lots of thing to do there and close to the Gulf and the Beaches. Have fun while down there and look around you never know what you will find.

Look it up on Tripadvisor, it has a decent review and some local info.

Well there is not a whole lot in Clewiston, I use too live in Palm Beach County and worked in the Belle Glade, Pahokee, South Bay area running Fire and EMS a few years back. You can drive too the west coast of Florida like Ft. Myers and that area is really nice, or drive east too West Palm but stay in the area west of the turnpike, visit the area of Wellington, Royal Palm beach. The South Bay, Belle Glade are area's you really don't want too visit they are really run down cities with alot of bad area's, so be careful in those cities.

Thanks to all for the info . We have spent a lot of time in Okeechobee, Florida, but have only circumnavigated the lake. Tell me when was the last time you were able to use THAT word in a sentence? We did notice that there were a number of older rundown areas all in the area. We chose Clewiston over Okeechobee because of the $500 a month difference in price. And once you head farther south than Clewiston the rates double and triple. We will give everyone a report after we've been there for a month or two and If we find a nicer area than where we go we'll pass that on also.
