Mackinaw City Campground

Less than 2 miles due south of the bridge on Mackinaw Trail it's a great place to camp while you spend most of your time in town.

Basic campground only $15 with water and 30 amp. New dump station and restrooms

We left the rig there while we toured only 30 spots and completely self serve Never seen anyone that looked in charge. Great location and price for basic camping while visiting the area

We just stayed at Mill Creek Campground. About three miles south of town on the waters only about 35 a night for full hook up. Very nice lace. Planning to return in the next month or so.

Last year I stayed af the state park in St Ignace. Going UP (Hiawatha Nat'l Forest) next week and planning on stopping there for the night.

Kewadin Casino in St Ignace has an RV park with electricity/water hookups. Cost is $10 a night.

It's close to town, conveniently located off I75 and the price is right

Is the 10$ offset by the cost to get your rig across the bridge and all the fun in doing that? Just wondering if the casino is the only place your going is it worth the cost

I wouldn't drag my rig across the bridge "just to stay at the casino", but usually on the way back from an extended UP trip, it's a good place to park for the night, have a relaxing meal that somebody else cooks and then visit Mackinaw Island for the day before heading back "downstate". I'd guess with the $10 camping fee, the bridge toll and the extra fuel to tow across the bridge, it would be cheaper to get a "discounted room" at the casino and leave the trailer home....

05kzep241 said he has stayed at a "no service campground" in the UP along US2 just west of St Ignace. I was offering him an alternative with electric and water for a bit less money than the US Forest Service Campground or the State Forest Campgrounds in the area.

Either side of the bridge has a good spot to park cheaply, your suggestion on the LP side and the casino on the UP side.....

JRTJH, thanks for the input, the plan is to go to the UP and drycamp for 3 days in the forest, then stop at St Ignsce for a day in Mackinac Island then head back. I usually stay at state parks to support the fact that they are not selling the land for someone else to build something which allows us to enjoh the beautiful scenery that Michigan has to offer, but the alternative you brought is appealing too, and having options is always a good thing. I dont mind going over the bridge at all, even if it was only to stay on the other side of the bridge.
