Anyone’s hitch put into your same model truck will have a different weight figure. Each tow vehicle has it’s own factory weight sticker… not what sales or brochure says.

Now you’re getting there, go ahead and get the one with the training wheels on back.
Before I bought my first dually I was looking at a one ton super cab V-10. Of course I had started hanging out on a Ford Diesel site. They talked me into my first F-350 crew cab dually diesel and never looked back. Have you talked to anyone that complained about having too much truck?
If the mirrors fit, the fenders will fit. Super cab vs crew cab, 16”. You get real doors and a real seat. If you have a flat on the rear, you still have 3. Much more stable in the wind. You’re new exercise program, parking in the far corner of Walmart and walking in.
And after driving semi’s for 14 years I would refer to it as my little truck. 😁

Come on now Cap... bet my 2006 F350 with 6.0L DIESEL has more payload than ANY F250 in any configuration made the same year. i know that 3/4 tons made more recently have had higher and higher payloads but still... to make a statement like that is kind of, well general and not really on the mark.

Cap, I'm jumping on George's bandwagon, only more succinct. What you said isn't even close to being true. As a matter of fact, I'm betting you're a 3/4 ton gasser (uh, owner that is) towing some 13K beast needing a one ton and you pretending 'everything is fine.'
How close did I come?

Yup. Gotta also consider heavier diesel powerplant v gasser. Different uses, way different curb weights.

Here's the issue with this statement and why it's incorrect and misleading. You should have stated that when compared A 1 ton to A 3/4 ton gasser...... Your statement would make the claim that ALL comparisons between those two classes would have that result which just isn't correct.

As Marshall noted, your statement is a generality that isn't true. Note the highlights above "a one ton" (A emphasized) diesel compared to "a 3/4 gas" (A emphasized again) is and will be incorrect. Depending on trim level and body/chassis configuration a 3/4 ton gas can very easily have less payload than a 1 ton diesel....happens every day. Broadbrush statements and generalities to push a particular narrative aren't particularly helpful to an individual new to towing and looking for guidance - which we have many.

I bet the 3500 duramax has the factory optioned derated gvwr…it probably only 10000 lb gvwr..you have to be careful when shopping for 1 ton trucks because two identical trucks can have different gvwr on paper for registration purposes…with the lower gvwr you get the lower payload
It becomes basically a 3/4 ton truck with the derated gvwr…not really the same as a 1 ton comparison

One of the reasons i went with gasser. My 2015 Hemi Ram 4x4 has a payload capacity of 3130 & towing capacity of 12,850. . For the amount of upfront cost , required maintenance of a diesel engine i went with the 6.4 Hemi. We mainly tow on the Texas/ Louisiana Gulf coast. Works for me.

My decked out '21 F350 King Ranch 4x4, 6.7L has a 5,280 payload. I'm sure a 4x2 could save the 800# in the above and mine, easily.

Dan, next time buy the XL version; three benefits:
1. not dragging around those heavy leather seats and that eats payload!
2. my dogs can barf on the floor going down the road and clean up is a snap!
and #3!
3. my truck is paid for and didn't cost more than my house
You couldn't guess I am a bit jealous of those with brand new duallies?

Yes, the 3/4 ton gas has more payload, but the heavy diesel will pull circles around the gasser!
Most of the time a diesel will run out of payload before it runs out of towing capacity. Where a gasser will run out of tow capacity before payload.
Our next 5er will likely be in the 16K GVWR, which is 9,000#+ below our tow capacity.

George,
Yes, those leather seats are killing me with unavailable payload capacity. I'll probably take them out and just cover the frames with burlap, or potato bags. I guess I won't get my butt and back massaged on those long 11 hour drives pulling my RV to MI from here... What a pity.
Yes, this is WAY more than my first new house, three times to be exact, but hey, that once in '75 and things were a bit different then. We could have kept the '12 RAM dually and just been towing over our CVWR and just white knuckled it, but my wife today said how much she loves this new truck. AND YES, Happy Wife - Happy Life!
I do appreciate your concern for my well being, thanks...
Dan
