Jack maintenance Fifth wheel

I have the 315 RLS Cougar with the 3.0 auto leveling system 4 jacks, what do you do to like greasing the jacks? on my last fifth wheel i had a front jack fail because of the grease zerts were painted black and weren't identified.

I use a dry lube on all 4 and have had no sticking or problems in 5 seasons.

As I recall, the gearbox on the electric leveling system is a sealed unit. With that said, cleaning/DRY lube the legs should do it.

Should you not grease all gears? or wait till they fail?.

If you are asking a retorical question then I would say "that depends". It depends on the service application, the manufacturer's recommendation and using the proper lubricants. Some small plastic gears are made with plastics that "self lubricate" and using grease can ruin them. Some gears are lubricared in an oil bath and the oil viscosity and additives can vary widely. Following the manufacturer's recommendation is the best course of actikn IMO.

Putting grease on open exposed gears will attract dirt which can accelerate wear.
If you just have have to put something on them maybe a dry graphite.
