At this point you need to stop trying to start it. It MIGHT start one more time and take out your entire RV along with you.

Seriously though I wouldn’t do ANYTHING until you get the leak fixed and I probably wouldn’t even mess around with it too much more or you may go

Well im almost positive the gas is leaking is all linked to why its not starting.

I hope your not being serious because this feels like “ famous last words”
You really should take this to someone who has more experience.
There are things that you can tinker with with little to no experience but this isn’t one of them...if it was sitting by itself ( generator) and not attached to a giant fuel tank and attached rv (probably sitting close to your house)then I would say “have a go at it”
But that’s not the case ..it’s leaking fuel on to the muffler.
Good luck and make sure all of your insurance is paid up
I wouldn’t be any more surprised if you had a lit cigarette in the picture
I do wish you good luck.. not trying to disrespect you

The very very old fuel filter and hoses should be replaced; looked like the fuel filter was the leak but there may be more than one. The genny will NEVER start with that fuel filter in place. It is 20 years old by the looks of it and never changed. The hoses are likely very hard/cracked and compromised.
This may be a carb kit; I would call and verify:
https://www.colburnpower.com/kohler-...epair-kit.html
This may also be the right kit:
https://www.generator-parts.com/kohl...epair-kit.html
It appears there were two different carburetors used on your genny model. Calls to the sellers might clear up which you have. Replace the fuel lines and filter.

⁸ leaking gas from the exhaust sounds like the carb is pouring fuel down the cylinder. Can you pull the spark plug and see if you have cokpression? Could be a exhausr valve stuck open. Just guessing from your description.

I totally get it and trust me im definitely going to make sure the gas is no longer leaking into the muffler before i actually keep it running for any period of time unsupervised! Wgich if i get it running and gas is still leaking im immediately going to shut it down and find leak. But like i said im hoping i find the problem while fixing the carb!!

And just to maybe add to your woes, have a very good peek into the inside of the fuel tank. Thirty year old appliances that have just sat unused for long spells, as this one certainly has, are very prone to rusted fuel tanks. Good luck to you and be careful. You have gotten excellent advice.

It uses the same fuel tank as the chassis engine so its fine.

If anything i think ill at least use the cheap amazon carb as a rebuild kit as it comes wth new gas lines springs float valve fuel filter a everything else.

That's because when trying to start the thing you flooded the carburetor.

Someone in the past may have fogged the motor with a oil spray for long term storage or poured some oil in the spark plug holes to keep it from seizing up.. I fog my boat generator and boat engines before layup every year. They will smoke and sputter for a few minutes in the spring..BUT I would still remove the genny to fix it.. I would adjust your solar budget a little and put that money into the correct repair. Just my opinion

Fix the flooding issue before cranking it over any more. Gasoline will wash away the oil on the cylinder walls and rings and you can end up scoring the cylinder wall. After that change the oil and filter before attempting another start up.

How many times in how days has the OP attempted to start a unsafe genny?
It never started yet, it won't start until someone does some maintenance and repair. At this point it maybe better it has not started. Wonder what it would do with free flowing gas out of the engine while running?
