Finally!

So as promised here are the pics of the new TV!

A little different than my original plan however it has the running gear and fuel load and a couple other nice items for an enjoyable experience.

2021 Ram Bighorn DRW
CC, LB, 4X4
H.O. Aisin, 4.10 gear
50 gal tank
Gooseneck prep
Spray on bed liner
Has all the five cameras and trailer blind spot sensing. Fold away heated mirrors.
Cold weather group
Five passenger seating with the 48 qt. Center console. Cloth seats.
Heated wheel and seats
8.4 screen w/nav

A few other things.....

Amazingly it rides better than I could have imagined. Can’t wait to tow. I do have all the break in mileage but am going to continue to rack some up. We won’t be out with the RV until the first of April.

Out for the first adventure...finally.
I can’t wait to report the difference in the towing capability over the 2500.

Those stabilizers behind the wheels look like they are hanging low. Any issues? I would have them ground off backing into my slip (very steep into slip) at home.

Nope, none so far however, this pickup doesn’t squat like the other so we’ll see. Lots of new “what if’s” I’ll need to be watching...closely.

Nice looking rig! Do you have to adjust your fifth wheel hitch lower to get the fiver level?

Scott if I recall I was told that jack should not extend below an imaginary straight line from the bottom of the tire in front of it to the bottom of the trailer at the back. It sure looks like it does.....and I sure wouldn't drop off a curb with it.

It looks to me like the trailer is at least 4" nose high.. level the trailer and that jack is at least 6" off the pavement..

So no I cannot adjust lower. It is all the way down. Actually it is close to the bed than I would like. It is a little more nose high than I’d like however, it pulled like a dream.

The rear stabilizer was not all the way up. The silver in the pic should not be there when fully retracted. Somehow in my haste to get going I missed that. It didn’t drag pulling out of my building but it had to be close. I’ll check that again when we head out Monday (make sure it IS fully retracting).

Didn’t go far (45 mi) but holy cow what a difference! A totally different experience for sure. Plenty of hills, curves and such to get a good feel and I must say I wish I’d have gone this route a long time ago! I was mostly worried about the length of the truck than anything else as far as backing. Especially in and out of my building. It’s actually easier than it was with the other truck.
Now granted my 5er isn’t huge and not super heavy but it does have some pin weight. I NOW feel how over loaded my other truck was.
Besides the power (even though my other was chipped) lugging along at 55 on a two lane following a slow guy, it just cruised along, didn’t downshift up the hills just chugged along. The breaking is phenomenal! I haven’t even tried the Jake break, didn’t need to. Theses things n tow mode are absolutely awesome.
The difference in weight management between the two pickups is obvious.
I, like others, thought my big bad 2500 diesel could tow it all. I read and read on THIS forum, every “weight” related post since I became a member and I’m so glad I listened. I’m so glad I made the jump!

No regrets whatsoever!

Keep it up “weight police”, you’re doing a great job!

Scott

Yeah it’s certainly a difference going from a 2500 srw to 3500 drw

Did your other truck have the exhaust brake? I leave mine on all the time.. feel like it saves on brakes even when not towing..I’m so used to it now it feels like a runaway truck without it ..well I’m sure your gonna have a lot of fun with the new rig...I gotta get me some rock tamers

Keep your eyes open when going through towns as many have signs saying it is illegal to have a jake break operating in town limits. They can be heard easily when a LEO is sitting behind a bill board inside city limits.

No it did not. That didn’t come along until the 6.7l.

My other didn’t downshift like this one either. I push the break pedal easier when hooked up than when unhooked. I will play with it on the way back. We have a couple longer trips coming up the end of the month so it will get some use then.

Trying to figure my next move on leveling this thing out a little more. Depending on where I end up I may have to to raise those rear stabilizers a hole or two for short term.

Always something!

DW would have a new 5er........NOT
