Breaking slide cables

I noticed a couple of weeks ago when we were camping that on our HC310RE there was a cable missing on the top right outside corner of the kitchen slide. so started looking and it had broke and was hanging inside the black rubber seals. I ordered 2 replacement cable kits and finished installing the cable last night (what a PITA)
This afternoon I went out to look at the rest of the cables and the top left outside cable is starting to fray. They are breaking right at the end of the cable where the end stops are made on and they slip into the brackets on the slide.
We had this thing in the shop last March-April for roof membrane replacement from leaking gearboxes and am wondering if they did something wrong then? What is entailed in reroofing the slide? Would they have to remove the slide to do it? And if so that would mean unhooking the cables? Anyone have cable problems like this?

I can't be certain of the details but I remember seeing a video about adjustments and they showed a bracket on the inside that the cable can rub against causing it to fray. The bracket can adjust up/down.
