Towing a motorcycle

I have a 31ft cougar I bought a motorcycle recently and I hit a delima my bumper extends and I am trying to put the Harley on the back of the rig I have a all season underbelly and the bike weighs about 550lbs looked into the swivel carts but they are not only expensive but not crazy with double trailer backing I have thought about maybe extending the steel frame just wondering before I have my engineer at work design a structural modificaton and me welding it up if anyone had any ideas

Brian, I'm sure you will receive a few constructive ideas with your post, but mine won't be one of them. I would simply run, not walk, away from any idea of hanging more than 700 pounds on the back of a Cougar of any size. I suspect you have never followed an RV with a heavy generator 'hung' from the rear frame just down a slightly rough interstate....it is not a place for motorcycles. Sorry, Brian. JMO, YMMV

I agree with the above. I have seen lots of frame damage and recently had to get out of the way of a shower of sparks and debris when someone’s hitch rack failed while carrying a generator down the highway. Finally, although legal in some states, double trailers (other than commercial tandem) are not allowed in many places. How much would it suck to get pulled over and told to leave your bike on the side of the road because you were illegal? Toy haulers were purpose-built for this situation.

It’s hydraulic lift . I have installed lifts on class A . I don’t know about the cougar frame the Excell is extremely heavy. He is full timer and has traveled all across America with no trouble or legal issues.

Your frame cant handle it only a few RVs( like Excell) were designed to and are no longer made. You need a Swivel wheel trailer. PS i have one for sale

Can't tell from the picture, but hope that it's attached to more than that flimsy bumper, if not better up the insurance on the bike.

Just and FYI. We have a 35 foot Cougar with an extendable rear carrier/bumper. I had it extended and my pedal bike strapped to it as well as the factory installed spare tire, and we went from Niagara Falls, ON to Phoenix AZ. I checked and noted that the frame extension had bent the brackets that were holding the extended platform in place. We could have lost it. It will never support a M/C even if you weld the extension to the frame. Way too much bouncing causing violent weight distribution on the extension.
