Caa/aaa ?

We are looking forward to our first winter trip from Canada to Florida with our fifth wheel. Looking at CAA but wondering if anyone has found better coverage out there in case of breakdown ? Thanks

We have BCAA (same thing) with the RV upgrade. Have never used it but as near as I can decipher it's only for fuel, changing flats and towing. Not roadside repairs. It is good in the US as well as Canada. Read the fine print. YMMV

If the AAA you are referring to is the same AAA I had be careful. I dropped it because their coverage varies all over the place depending on where you are. I became so frustrated with it I just cancelled it years ago and haven't missed it since.

Do you supplement with other coverage?

I know that some people don't like Camping World and Good Sam, but we have Good Sam Roadside Assist. When we broke a spring they sent a mobile repair truck to our campground and had us up and running in short order.

From what I read I know there are folks that don't like them too; and from some of the things they do, at times, I can see how it aggravates some. But, I have I suppose every plan that Good Sam offers and I'm happy with them. They're cheap, effective and RV based from RV type folks. I do not carry RV insurance with them because their policies with the "reduction for times not used" was very restrictive to me and left what I felt like was a possible hole in coverage should you not do what you said, or what they wanted you to.

I have CAA, RV Premier, and this past April, we had a wheel break off from an axle on our 5th wheel near Florence, KY.

Called it in, within 1 hour or less a tow truck showed up, suggested I could slowly drive on 3 wheels to an RV shop nearby. He followed us with all of his lights flashing on I-75, where the speed limit is 75 MPH...

Good investment. AAA, on behalf of CAA, did well for us.

I've had Good Sam Roadside for years. While I've never needed it for the RV I have had to have 2 cars towed. They took care of me both times.

I was just looking online and it looks like it might be worth keeping an eye on RV Advisor. Has anyone used them? You can buy a regular membership, much like the Good Sam club. But they also appear to have a pretty comprehensive RV Roadside Assistance program.

I haven't really looked into these but thought they might deserve a look

Any reason y'all don't use your vehicle insurance roadside assistance? We've used ours with Geico twice and it has been flawless. And cheap.

I use the Good Sam RV assist - and am Canadian. It's much cheaper the CAA and provides better coverage.

Be sure and check with your insurance company and make sure they cover towing your trailer. Had a friend who had AAA and they would not tow the trailer unless they paid for it out of pocket. I checked with my auto insurance and that was the case, TV was covered but not trailer. Having another tow truck come and get your trailer can get expensive.
