Carbon 403 interior furniture clearance

Hi Everyone, I’m new to the forums and hoping someone can provide some insight. I recently purchased a 2018 Carbon 403 toy hauler. When I bought it, it was missing the end recliner on the l sofa in the living room. Across from it is a dinette seat with slider top. Keystone finally sent me the recliner and I was able to install it but when the opposing slides close, the recliner hits the dinette and the slides do not have enough clearance to close completely. I can force it closed but I don’t want to place unnecessary stress on the slide or the furniture. Can anyone with a 403 chime in and explain how they do it? I’m thinking I’m going to have to remove the recliner and flip it upside down before departing on a trip, which is an inconvenience and a design flaw....

Thanks!

Jorge

I realize that this isn't in a Toy Hauler, but in our 5th wheel, the rear recliners have to be turned sideways in order to get the two opposing rear slides retracted, and this was designed that way. Possibly you might turn them to see if that works.

On our Springdale, both rear swivel chair had to be turned sideways with their backs together, then tied with a strap so they couldn't swivel. If left facing forward, the slide would "cut the front half" off of the roadside chair and the motion from towing would "rock the chairs into the rear window" damaging the chair backs and rubbing a hole in the screen on the window.

A number of floorplans require moving furniture to retract slides for travel. Some even require the recliners/chairs to be inverted and stored on the sofa so there is clearance for the slide to come in. It's not necessarily a "designed in flaw" for this to be required and it's not "just Keystone".

Hi John, I get that some chairs may have to be adjusted and tied up. However, for a trailer company to design something to have to be removed from its anchor points and inverted seems a bit off. If it was intended for it to be inverted every time you go on a tip, how do owners that may not be as strong do it? Thankfully, I am able to get it flipped but it just seems odd that the manufacturer would expect someone to have to do this. Once again, I get sliding and swiveling to clear the slides, but not having to physically flip a 60 pound recliner onto the l sofa. Any input from a 403 owner????

Hey folks. I'm a new carbon 403 owner, yes you have to flip the recliner over onto the couch to travel. My question is, how does the locking mechanism work? Seems that I am missing something to keep my recliner in place.
