Landing Gear Stops

I have read numerous times now not to extend or retract beyond the stop marks or the gear can be damaged.

What do these marks look like?

If they are not there how can I go about determining where to mark them?

There aren't any stop marks from the manufacturer. what you can do is retract them until the motor starts to labor, extend just a tad and make a mark. Permanent marker will work but you may have to touch it up once in a while. then do the same thing on the extend. I have sit the "stops" numerous times without any damage. Key is to STOP pushing the button when it reaches the end of travel.

Thanks. I went out to the trailer today and removed the motor so I could hand crank until it got stiff instead of using the motor just so i could avoid some of the dangers I hear about on the web of breaking off internal leg components. When I reached the stop on the lead/driver's side leg, I marked it. Then I went over to the follow leg/passengers side and discovered it was about 3 inches extended compared to the driver's side.

Of course now I am concerned. I could just remove the "joining shaft" and use it to crank the follow leg up completely but what if it's not holding any weight when parked, that could be a problem.

I have had issues (see http://www.keystoneforums.com/forums...ad.php?t=38857) with the gear and had concluded it was the motor, but now perhaps I have a leg issue.

I am going to extend it all the way out and mark the legs then think about what to next while I am doing it

The aha! I cranked the passenger gear down from where it stopped and then back up. It stopped again and would go no further.

I am pretty sure its bent.
