Electric Tongue Jack

I am ready to purchse an electric tongue jack and understand that the Husky 4500 is the choice of many. I am concerned about the tailgate not being able to close. My tongue weight is less than 700 lbs on my 26 ft bullet. Will I have any issues with a 3500 lb jack lifting my truck for the WD bars. Do all the electric tongue jacks have issues with the tailgate being able to shut. Kinda confused on what to get. Any thoughts on this.

Why would you not be a able to close the tailgate? Must be to late at night but do not understand your question. Their is no problem closing a tailgate caused by using an electric jack? Lots of answers under "Electric Jack" using the search feature.

I went with the 4500. Bigger is better? I figured that way I can take it off if we sell the TT. The tailgate shouldn't be an issue.

You should have plenty of room. I have more room between the tailgate and jack now. I have a jack quick 3500 on my 2810BH and it works well.

My tailgate does not open all the way when connected but generally not an issue as I generally do not need to get anything or put anything in when hooked up.

I have a Ram 2500 and a 319RLS. I cannot open my tailgate either. It poses not problem for us generally because whatever we need out of the truck can be retrieved once we unhook.

One wire to an in-line circuit breaker then straight to the positive on the battery. I mounted the circuit breaker in the top of the battery box. I bought the jack new through Amazon for about $100.

An electric jack is in my future upgrades, but for now I just added an $18 drop foot so the amount of cranking I have to do is minimalized. This will give me time to do the more important upgrades first.

$100? The ones I've been looking at are closer to $250. How well is the $100 one working?

Works well. Unlike it's name, it is not fast but it has been reliable. I installed it mid season last year on my smaller TT and then moved it to my new TT in October. The Husky is well known but the reviews were good on this one too and it included an adjustable drop leg too.

I had the a husky 3000 installed on my brand new trailer prior to taking delivery of it this past week. The dealer told me that a 4500 series for a 6000/lb trailer with 700 lb tongue weight was much of an overkill. My Yukon tailgate has only a 1/2 inch clearance from it when opened all hooked up (measured from the rear of the tongue jack head assembly).

If i did upgrade to the 4500 series, the head unit is a bit bigger and may have interfered with the opening of my TV tailgate. The 3000 has practically lifted the rear axle off the ground while installing my WDH. Plenty of power. And I only paid $140 for it.

Question to the people with the husky 4500. Where did you hide the circuit breaker. In the battery box?

I've had a couple different electric jacks. They are all about the same. Last one I bought I ordered from Amazon. Way better prices than a RV dealer. I have a 2011 Ram 2500. My tailgate opens .... but just barely. So although I can open my tailgate to get access to stuff in my bed, I would never drive with the tailgate open. Not enough clearance.
